Simone Biles’s tropical love compelled her to move to Cabo in celebration of her marriage on May 6 last year. But did you know that it was her second turn to marry Jonathan Owens? Though the couple met through a dating app, Raya, in 2020, Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens hold several auspicious sides in their relationship and ultimately in the marriage occasion. At the helm of their first marriage anniversary, all those never-heard things came to the fore again. But wait, May 6 should be their first marriage anniversary day! Why did Simone Biles celebrate it on April 22 this year then? 

Before their destination wedding in Cabo last year, the couple wanted to seal the promise through legal procedures. So a courthouse wedding served the need. It was a much homely affair on April 22 in Houston last year where the couple and the close circles met to seal the deal. After that, the 7x Olympic medalist moved to Cabo. All these emotional affairs revolved around both Simone and JO wishing each other on April 22 this week to remember the day. 

Through an IG story, Simone Biles sent her heartfelt gesture toward the NFL safety, captioning “one year married [emoji]”. Jonathan Owens, the recruit in the Chicago Bears, acknowledged Simone’s gesture by sharing the post. The post flaunted the couple’s snap from last year’s courthouse wedding ceremony. With the confluence of romantic color, the day was perfected with sober attire and ornaments. The couple sincerely remembers the day. 

In extending the celebration, Simone and Jonathan engaged in a vacation tour just before April 22 this year. Both were seen to have fun in the alleys of Houston – the cherished place where the couple have spent much of their romantic outings and leisure. Their courthouse wedding also took place in the same town. Interestingly, Meanwhile, despite going through a lot of preparation in planning the ceremonies last year, Simone Biles never felt tired of “tuning with Jonathan”

Building from scratch to make the bond eternal 

After their formal introduction to Raya, the couple bonded with each other firmly by sharing their time. Both have their distinct takes on these emotional exchanges. Whereas Jonathan Owens found Simone Biles down to earth, despite her achievements in gymnastics, Simone Biles also could not forget JO’s support when she needed it the most. JO was there beside her, pacifying her while she was going through her mental health hiatus post-Tokyo Olympics.

All these culminated in their engagement on Valentine’s Day of 2020. However, to shape it as a wedding, the couple had to wait for three long years. But for Simone, it was all good, despite a hectic arrangement episode. 

According to a conversation earlier, the 27-year-old gymnast claimed that a one-year of preparation was their savior to give a proper look to the wedding courthouse ceremony in Houston and the destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas. Despite taking planned and firm steps towards it, the wedding day gave Simone a nervous feeling. But it was nowhere compared to the excitement she went through in all those days. So when asked about her overall experience, Mrs. Owens said, “I want to do it again,” – thrice maybe?
