Becoming a D1 athlete, and a former U.S. gymnastics team member wasn’t an easy ride for New Jersey-born Olivia Dunne. In 2005, she started practicing gymnastics and devoted her childhood to the sport. Homeschooled Olivia went on to earn LSU admission and around the same time began her influencer journey. Known as Livvy, she became the most followed NCAA athlete in 2022 and subsequently, the highest-paid collegiate female this year.
Livvy now has two powerful money-making assets, her gymnastics skills coupled with NIL deals aka social media ads. Now, despite accusing TikTok of shadow-banning her account, she recently shared another New Year’s update with her fans.

LSU Tigers gymnast with a strong NIL profile and the confidence to change the face of collegiate athletics forever, that’s how Livvy managed to lay her foundation. After the recent drama over TikTok’s ban, Livvy shared another eleven-second video of her channeling her inner Swiftie using a filter that generated an answer to “I will end 2023 ___.”
After a few seconds, while she was singing pop icon Taylor Swift’s ‘cruel summer,’ the answer was revealed: “Pole Dancing.” Leaving the 21-year-old maneuverer in hilarious shock and disbelief, she captioned it, “Does swinging bars count?” With one particularly common wish in the wishful comments being, “it knows what we want.”
Concerned about her dwindling opinions on TikTok where she has 7.8M followers, Livvy wondered if she had been shadow-banned since her posts rarely received more than a million views, even though she frequently made seven figures in reach. She even recently asked the platform: “Why am I shadow banned?” So, what really is shadow ban? Its’ when a social media network restricts an account’s visibility and recommendations to other users while keeping it within the algorithm. Although Livvy isn’t dependent on TikTok, however, the platform and the decline in reach could be a concern for her for this reason.
What could be at stake for Livvy
Livvy disclosed earlier this year that she had received more than $500,000 for a single sponsored social media post. This mostly comes from the number of followers-likes per video, and engagement which directly affect her TikTok earnings.

Though she generally shies away from talking about money, Dunne admitted that her highest fee was in the six figures when asked.

According to Market Realist, she made between $4,427-$7,378 for each TikTok video as of April 2023. In addition, Livvy opened up about her annual salary saying, “I would say it’s…six figures.” With the NCAA championships scheduled at first week of January, the shadow ban issues doesn’t seem to be Livvy’s top priority but her negligence could result in a dent in her pocket.
