In 2023, Olivia Dunne caused quite a stir on social media. How did she do that, you ask? The undisputed NIL queen flaunted a Pittsburg Pirates cap on her Instagram story. Fans wondered if this had something to do with someone special in her life. It didn’t take long for the mystery to be solved when she dropped a bathroom selfie sporting a white cap with a bold yellow ‘P’ on it. They soon realized that MLP prospect Paul Skenes was her beau! 

In fact, the duo first crossed paths at the LSU campus. Livvy would often see him around despite not knowing who he was. That was until the gymnast saw him in the dugout during a baseball game. Spoiler alert. This was Skenes’ pre-mustache era! They eventually went on a chill ice cream date and haven’t looked back since. While NCAA’s golden girl never shies away from gushing about her partner, the Pittsburg Pirates pitcher’s recently spilled the beans. What did he say?

Paul Skenes reflects over relationship with Olivia Dunne

Since their heartwarming relationship went public, the duo have been deemed a power couple. How come? Olivia Dunne has been leading the way for LSU gymnastics since 2020 while also cheering her partner on from the sidelines since he debuted in May. Paul Skenes even won the NL Rookie of the Year award recently for his incredible first season. On November 27, the 22-year-old appeared in a casual sit-down interview with MLB.com. While discussing his stellar year, the conversation eventually moved to his relationship with the gymnast. 

While the Pittsburg Pirates pitcher navigated an incredibly thrilling season, the gymnast isn’t far behind. Livvy led LSU to their first NCAA championships this year, making her as successful as her beau. Skenes was asked if the gymnast had helped him navigate through all the attention. “Yeah, I think so. She got to that point in her life a little bit earlier than I did. So, with the Draft and all of that, she was able to help me with those experiences,” the pitcher confessed.

However, he reiterated that by no means is this a one-way thing. “And I think I’m able to help her. We’re definitely able to share some of those experiences and help each other out,” the 22-year-old admitted.  Olivia Dunne believes that their relationship has helped her grow in numerous ways. While the pitcher couldn’t watch the gymnast make history in Fort Worth earlier this year, Livvy opened up about how he helped influence her incredible journey. 

As she watched her partner receive the 2024 National League Rookie of the Year award, the LSU gymnastics queen was asked if she had any favorite moments from his rookie season. The gymnast didn’t hesitate to tout his first time pitching at Wrigley Field as the winner. However, she admired his quick rise from the minor to the big league and believed his mindset to be elite. In fact, the 22-year-old tries to incorporate this into gymnastics and often asks Skenes for advice. On the other hand, she has so much more to be excited about.

The 22-year-old spills the beans on what’s next for the duo

Olivia Dunne and Paul Skenes are in a league of their own. But this also means that their incredibly busy schedules keep them apart for the most part. While the duo try their best to support each other on the rise to the top, things might soon change for them. Since the pitcher started for the Pittsburg Pirates, the gymnast hasn’t been able to attend some of the games.

However, she was happy about how the baseball community embraced her and admitted that supporting and traveling with Skenes has been nothing short of incredible. Unfortunately, the LSU gymnastics queen yearns for it to happen more often. The only times she traveled with the MLB Rookie was during his away games this summer.

But it’s only happened twice so far, and she looked forward to being a WAG more often. Unfortunately, they would have to make do with spending some of their time apart. So, how do they deal with the long-distance blues? The Pittsburg Pirates pitcher has found a heartwarming way to get around it.

Livvy exclaimed that he previously tried to arrange for a private jet. Why’s that, you ask? To make traveling easy for the gymnast! Paul Skenes has always ensured that getting from point A to point B is comfortable for the 22-year-old. In fact, whenever Olivia Dunne can step away from her busy schedule, the pitcher asks her to visit him over the weekend for some much-needed quality time.
