Jade Carey and Yul Mouldauer have walked to pride the nation of gymnastics team with their presence. While 23-year-old Jade rose to be a floor champion at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Yul has been a 2017 all-around bronze medalist. The duo has persistently continued to stun the audience with every stride only to climb a pedestal higher as they reached the 2023 Swiss Cup.

The Swiss Cup Zurich hosts a mixed pair event every year and interestingly features an elimination system unlike any other. After a run-through of all the performances, the 2 bottom teams stand to be eliminated. Following up with the structure, Jade Carey and Yul Kyung-Tae Moldauer excellently made their way through the rounds.

Jade and Yul inch closer to the crown at the Swiss Cup

The 2023 Swiss Cup gymnastics segment marked its presence on the 5th of November, welcoming the best of the field. Both the athletes from Team USA scored wonderful culmination points by round 2 to proceed to the Semi-Finals as the Top 4 team; embracing a combined score of 56.250. For the first two rounds, Jade and Yul pulled consecutive top spots and continued with the streak as they headed for round three where the final score read, 27.500.

Jade, who took Vault, Floor, and Uneven Bars respectively was eyed for being not the best at the moment. As for Yul, the 27-year-old graced Parallel Bars, Rings, and floor to emerge with the best of scores each round; 15.200, 14.250, and 14.300. Nonetheless, with a combined effort of the two, Jade and Yul proceeded to the Grand Finale.

In round 1, Jade took to the vault as her first apparatus. Though the initial executive presented to be flawless, the landing stumble cost the gymnast a reduction; to end with 13.750. For round 2, Jade opted for her forte, the floor exercise with the Destiny?s Child music. The performance landed the gymnast with a total of 13.050; tying with Germany’s Pauline Schaefer-Betz who was on balance beam.

The highest on the floor for the day was bagged by Brazil’s J?lia Soares with 13.600, raising the talk around the Olympic Champion’s reduced performance. However, support was no less for the gymnast. “What we do know is Jade knew how to peak for Tokyo. I won’t count her out until Olympic Trials,” a post read.? Jade was exceptional in round 3 as took to the Uneven Bars scoring 13.200.

Earlier this year, Carey finished as the nation?s top all-arounder with a score of 39.820 in the NCAA season. However, the youngster stumbled on the next few top spots. ?I think the past month or so has been pretty challenging for me,? Carey had admitted in an interview with Olympics.com on August 11th. Nonetheless, she proceeded well on the road of recovery; ultimately leading to the Swiss Cup finale.
