Another looming match created anticipation among the fans. At their final home meet of the season, the Alabama Crimson Tide put on one of the best performances of the season and picked up a win on senior night. Alabama held the ‘Eras Night’ to honor its gymnastic alumni, and emotions were high at the Coleman Coliseum for the entire night. And this recognition of its star players who single-handedly toppled many key playmakers in the Quad meet realm was a star-studded night unlike any other.

Following the meet, the team honored all their student-athletes for their services to the college program. Alabama recognized their seniors as well as super seniors gymnasts, offering them framed photos and jerseys while clicking pictures with their closed ones. Overall, it was a special moment after a special win.

In their final home quad meet of the season, Alabama came out on top with an impressive score of 198. No. 9 Alabama defeated No. 17 Minnesota, No. 24 Illinois, and Talladega College in the quad meet. After the first rotation, Alabama picked up a strong lead posting a season-high score on the vault. It was the second time this season that Alabama scored 198 in a victory. After the victory, Alabama Gymnastics celebrated all senior athletes on their final home game and the pictures were shared on Instagram thanking them all, “Thank you will never be enough.”

Athletes, staff, friends, and family members all came together to pay homage to these amazing athletes. Shania Adams, Luisa Blanco, Ella Burgess, Makarri Doggette, Cameron Machado, Isabella Martin, and Mati Waligora were each handed framed photos and jerseys while taking pictures to commemorate the moment.

After the win, Alabama head coach Ashley Johnston said, “Tonight was a great way to cap off the home season, to just see it all play out. The team put so many pieces together.” Overall, it was just a great memory to store and move forward as Alabama is now out of the shadow of their much tougher contenders. In her fifth and final home season at Alabama, Luisa Blanco put in an unforgettable performance and scored two perfect 10s.

Luisa Blanco cements her legacy with two perfect 10s

After arriving in January 2020 as an early enrollee, Luisa Blanco has made her name as one of the greats to achieve laurels for Alabama. She is a 16-time All-American, SEC Gymnast of the Year, and an individual SEC Champion as well. Now, in her last home quad meet, she scored two perfect 10s to propel Alabama to victory over Minnesota, Illinois, and Talladega College.

Being known for her outstanding balance beam work where she has many perfect 10s, she landed the Yurchenko 1.5 to get her first career 10 on the vault. Thanks to her efforts, Alabama had a season-high score of 49.500 on the vault. After reaching the 198 mark for the 2nd time this season, the Crimson Tide will finish their regular season at No.1 Oklahoma.
