Leanne Wong has been a growing name in the gymnastics industry. From competing at the Parkettes National Qualifier to making it to the most prestigious gymnastics events, Leanne is the rising star in the US Gymnastics team. Leanne paved her path toward being a part of the US women’s gymnastics team for the 2023 Worlds with a lot of hard work. Though the journey followed a rocky road, the youngster stood to achieve great feats.

As a part of the US gymnastics team, Leanne Wong won her second team gold medal at the World Gymnastics Championship. The team put up a score of 167.729 points that pushed them to win their 7th consecutive title; and a second one for Leanne. The 20-year-old underwent a seemingly fruitful season through the end at the Worlds where the youngster stepped up for the team following an injury incurred by Jocelyn Roberson. Penning down her journey through the year, Leanne took to Instagram to appreciate the year she had and give love to the people who’ve always had her back.

Leanne reminisces about her remarkable gymnastics season

On the 11th of October, Leanne Wong took to Instagram to celebrate her successful season. For Leanne, the year started at the NCAA meet and ended at the World Gymnastics Championship; both venues where she emerged a victor. The young gymnast shared her appreciation post posing with her medal from the Worlds earned a few days ago. The post came with a caption that covered her journey throughout the year.

“WHAT A FUN SEASON!” Leanne wrote. “From the first NCAA meet, to the SEC Championships…and capped off the season at the World Championships!” The youngster further went on to express her gratitude for the people accompanying her throughout her journey. She added “I’m incredibly grateful and blessed for every one of these experiences and for all of the support…Thank you for bringing Gator Nation all the way to Belguim!” (referring to her roster at the University of Florida)

At the end of the caption, Leanne added that she is eagerly awaiting the next season and to see what’s in store for her. This remark captured the incredible journey Leanne has had in 2023 and cemented her excitement for the Paris Olympics.

A walk down the gymnast’s path in 2023

Deservingly, Leanne kicked off the season well and suitably at the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics in April. Wong who competes for the Florida Gators, earned a 2nd position, standing by the team with a total of 198.2375. As for her individual contribution, Leanne landed a 9th spot in the all-around with 39.5625 on the scoreboard. Following the NCAA, the gymnast walked with the team to earn the winning title at the SEC for the second consecutive time. However, her biggest earnings followed her from the Xfinity Championships.

Leanne put up a stellar performance on not one but all of the apparatus in contention at the Championships. The 20-year-old landed herself in the top 4 on all of the apparatus thus pushing her to a bronze in the all-around. With a total of 111.100, Leanne was placed right behind Simone Biles and Shilese Jones.

The journey further led Leanne to the U.S. World Selection Event in Katy, Texas, where she qualified for the 2023 Worlds team with 54.850 placing 5th. From there on, Leanne contributed to the team on vault, balance beam, and floor; scoring 14.066, 11.700, and 13.166 respectively. The youngster did so after replacing Joycelyn on short notice. With determination and stature of her holding, Leanne Wong undoubtedly has a future career to look watch out for.
