Jordan Chiles has had a difficult 2024 season, but she’s not let the hard times shadow her amazing moments in various events, especially with her teammates and the people she adores. She has several goals for the upcoming campaign, as she is already set to compete for UCLA and will be training for the LA Olympics. However, this tight schedule hasn’t made her refuse to acknowledge a rising gymnastics talent on the board.
The 23-year-old knows all the sacrifices and struggles she has made and gone through to achieve whatever she has currently. So, it’s common for Chiles to support one such up-and-coming gymnast in the scene, who has already made many headlines heading into the new NCAA season.

Jordan Chiles acknowledging talent
Who is this person who has piqued the Olympian’s curiosity? It’s Morgan Price. The 19-year-old talent from Lebanon, Tennessee, who’s currently representing Fisk University, turned heads in April when she won the 2024 Women’s Collegiate National Championships, etching her name forever in the sport’s history. But what did she exactly do? Price became the first gymnast from a historically Black college or university to win a national collegiate championship in the US, with an all-around score of 39.225 points.
As seen on X, Jordan Chiles attended an interview with Kyle Mosley on the Black Sports Insiders/HBCU Legends. He wanted to know about her opinions towards the achievements that Morgan secured in recent months, to which the gymnast replied, stating, “Being a woman of color, it is already hard to be seen just in general, so, um, Morgan, I honestly just seeing what she did going viral for all the things that she was, you know, records and all the stuff that she was doing last season, amazing.”
Chiles understands the challenges of being a gymnast in the competitive world. She has faced problems over the years she has competed in the scene, especially certain remarks that could easily deteriorate anyone’s mindset heading into a competition. But what are these remarks? Whenever fans are present in a sport, there are always two sides of a boat, and on the negative side, Chiles has suffered racism.
While she does silence her critics with her performances, such comments are still present, which do affect her mentally. However, with most of the odds against her, she has overcome the challenges to become an Olympian for Team USA, and watching such talents coming forward with a similar background is something that has made her appreciate the work that was put in behind these accolades. Many times, the 23-year-old has thanked her family and fans for supporting her during such times, as it does help her get over the negative remarks from the haters.

Have an interesting take?
“Like, she’s honestly, she’s a talented, gifted athlete, and I can’t wait to see what Fisk has in hold for 2025,” Chiles stated as she’s excited to see Morgan competing in the upcoming season. Surely, they won’t be sharing the mat as teammates, but whenever they will as opponents, both of the gymnasts will be presenting a show worth watching for the audience in the stands. It won’t be an effortless time for the 19-year-old to compete against one of such big names in the gymnastics scene, but her stellar career does back up all the anticipation about her, especially the feat she achieved recently.

Morgan Price puts HBCU on the map
Her single mother’s assistance throughout her high school career had already fortified Morgan Price, preparing her to make a significant impact as soon as she stepped into college. The journey was difficult, but she wasn’t somebody to back off from after all the struggles she had been through. Price also made a gamble in her career, as she de-committed from the University of Kansas in 2022 to join her coach, Corrinne Tarver, to compete for Fisk University, and the rest is history.
Finally, in April 2024, Price made her mark and secured the 2024 Women’s Collegiate National Championships title. She made history, as the Fisk Lady Bulldogs became that team whose gymnasts secured a national title from a historically Black university. Reflecting on her amazing feat, she gave her thoughts to CBS Mornings, stating, “I made the decision to switch just to inspire the younger generation so that younger African-American girls can see that HBCU is a thing and that we can compete with the best of the best.” Her win was just more than an achievement in her career. She wanted to set an example for the upcoming gymnasts and inspire them to compete in a university like Fisk and still win an accolade of such notability.
