At the tender age of six, gymnastics GOAT Simone Biles started gaining interest in the sport. It?s hard to imagine Biles as anything but a gymnast now that we know what she?s capable of on the mat. As the most decorated female gymnast, Biles has a total of 32 Olympic and World Championships medals, 23 of which are gold.
And it all started with one daycare field trip when Biles was six years old. An offhand comment and a stubborn middle-schooler, and lo-and-behold, we have a legend.

Simone Biles shares how she got interested in gymnastics
As a kid,?Simone Biles?had never been one to sit still and relax. Her grandparents had a trampoline in their backyard, where she spent her time jumping, twisting, and tumbling around. When Biles was six, her daycare group went on a field trip.
The destination was a gym called Bannon?s Gymnastix in Houston, Texas. Here, Biles was fascinated, watching the gymnasts train and perform. She began imitating them and successfully completed a back tuck. One gymnast jokingly suggested she try it on the balance beam.
Biles took it a lot more seriously.??So I went and ran up on the beam,??Biles?said.??And she screamed at me. She?s like, ?I wasn?t serious.? But I was going to do it.??Her first successful back tuck on the balance beam was at age 7.
Impressed by her potential, one of the coaches sent Biles home with a letter, encouraging her parents to enroll her in gymnastics classes. While most of her class started as toddlers, Biles was the oldest kid in her class, though it didn?t stay that way for long.
Even the coaches couldn?t keep up with Biles
At the gym, Simone Biles quickly became a force of nature. She astounded everyone with her strength and quick adaptability. Notably, Biles once?climbed?the rope using just her hands about 15 or 20 feet into the air when she was still a beginner. She had to be coaxed back to the ground.

Just watching another gymnast do a standing double tuck, Biles claimed she could do it too. And when the coach didn?t believe her, she proved them wrong and stuck the landing on her first attempt. That one field trip changed the trajectory of Biles? life.?
Now, almost two decades later, Biles has cemented herself in gymnastics history. In her first Olympics in Rio in 2016, Biles won a whopping four gold medals and a bronze. She has five World Championship all-around titles, in a record 25 World Championships medals. Now she has a net worth of $16 Million.
