Yul Moldauer is a South Korean-born American gymnast from Arvada, Colorado. Who participated in the Pommel Horse event at the 2021 FIG Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Kitakyushu, Japan. Moldauer appearance came shortly after his debut Olympic experience in Tokyo. And there he laid out his post-Olympic plans before leaving Japan.

Before departing the Ariake Gymnastics Centre for the last time, Moldauer shared his schedule. He said, “I fly in Wednesday, I probably get a light day on Thursday and Friday, and new skills on Saturday. We’ve got to ramp up and get ready for world championships.” His dedication to training over the following 11 weeks bore success. He led a group of four U.S. male gymnasts into the finals at the gymnastics world championships in Kitakyushu.

During the qualifying round, Yul Moldauer stood out as the sole U.S. male gymnast to compete in all six events. Moldauer narrowly missed securing a spot in the floor exercise final, becoming the first alternate with a score of 14.433. In the qualifying round, the top eight gymnasts in each event advance to the apparatus final. In total, 24 gymnasts advanced to the all-around final. Yul Moldauer, the 2017 U.S. all-around champion, had a successful Olympic debut. He contributed to Team USA’s fifth-place finish and achieved a sixth-place individual ranking in the floor exercise final. Three days before the championship he shared this clip.

Moldauer’s true class act was always quick to praise his teammates. He cites their shared goals and ultimate desire to get Team USA back to the Olympic medal podium. When asked if he saw himself as a leader he said, ?I don?t know if I?m viewed as a leader for the guys, but we have such good friendships. What we?re building here is a real family. We?re trusting one another. We?re in this together.? Moldauer?s topped the Winter Cup field in a competition that saw five lead changes. By the final rotation, it was clearly Game On and Moldauer came through.

In August Moldauer competed at the Core Hydration Classic where he placed fifth on parallel bars. He next competed at the Xfinity National Championships where he placed fifth in the all-around but the national title on parallel bars. The following day he was named to the team to compete at the upcoming World Championships alongside Asher Hong, Khoi Young, Fred Richard, Paul Juda, and alternate Colt Walker. On the final day of competition, Moldauer helped the USA win their second consecutive team title.

Moldauer won the 2023 Winter Cup in February. He was later selected to represent the United States at the Pan American Championships. He will be performing alongside Shane Wiskus, Curran Phillips, Khoi Young, and Taylor Christopulos. On the first day of competition, Moldauer helped the USA qualify for the team final.

Individually he won gold in the all-around, on floor exercise, and on parallel bars, won silver on horizontal bar, and won bronze on pommel horse. Moldauer became the first American male gymnast to win the all-around title at the Pan American Gymnastics Championships.?
