From the NBA to MLB, the iconic Nike logo can almost be seen on all the official jerseys of a player. And to create a bigger impact on the sports world, the billion-dollar company is now teaming up with gymnastics as well. The brand is signing a 5-year deal with US Gymnastics.

Despite the brand not being on good terms with the star Simone Biles who returns to mat this year, the US team has decided to shake hands with the brand. And amid this deal, Olympic gold medalist Jade Carey subtly showed her support for this partnership. The athlete posted a story just hours after the huge deal.

Jade Carey shows support for US Gymnastics new partnership

On August 3,  gymnast Jade Carey posted an Instagram story showing off her Nike possession. The Olympic gold medalist, who seemed to be traveling, posted a story of Nike sneakers and Nike shoes while sitting on a plane. Carey was seen wearing $324 Gamma Force white/black sneakers and carrying a navy blue Nike Heritage school gym travel backpack.

The athlete’s post came only a few hours after the announcement of Nike’s deal with US Gymnastics. The billion-dollar company with a five-year contract will sponsor the US gymnastics in the 2024 Olympics in Paris and the 2028 Olympics held in Los Angeles. After the deal, Li Li Leung, the president of USA Gymnastics, told the media, “It is incredible that a corporate partner such as Nike has the trust and belief in us.”

The gymnasts will be seen wearing footwear and outfits specially customized by the billion-dollar brand for the two major events. And Despite the star athlete Simone Biles’s rocky relationship with Nike, next year, the legendary tick logo will be added for the first time to the official USA gymnastics leotard.

Simone Biles’s unpleasant relation with Nike

In 2021, before the Tokyo Olympics, Simone Biles decided to part ways with Nike. The athlete, who has been sponsored by the famous brand since she turned pro in 2015, decided to team up with Athleta, a division of GAP, and released a statement: “Athleta stands for everything I stand for.” The athlete, who’s known for her women’s empowerment moves, left Nike after the brand was associated with many sexist scandals. The brand also has a long sexual harassment and gender discrimination lawsuit against them. As the brand is accused of not treating its female staff and female athletes properly.

However, now, joining hands with USA Gymnastics the billion-dollar brand has decided to focus more on building a culture that resonates with the sport and brings a sense of belonging among the athletes. And now, in her new story posted it is clear that Jade Carey already seems to be in support of this partnership.
