Olivia Dunne, the gymnastic trailblazer at the collegiate level, was previously associated with the US Nationals team. But the magnanimous social figure shifted to LSU Tigers’ women’s gymnastics team to take her dreams forward. Nearly unbeatable at the PMAC for years, LSU will step in head-on tonight. But the soon-to-be graduate Dunne leaves a farewell note with a heavy heart.

LSU has been home to the social media star since the pandemic days. Not only for gymnastics, she has made quite a lot of friends too. From off-stage shenanigans to social collaborations, they have done it all. But teary-eyed Dunne is one step away from bidding goodbye.

Resorting to her stories, the 21-year-old posted “one last time in the PMAC tonight. 7:30 CT…BE THERE!” The social media sensation combined two photos to bring out the real emotion. One photo was of the first time she competed at the PMAC, and the other was from one of her performances in 2024. Livvy has been an LSU gymnast since 2020. On 17th February 2024, Livvy’s team went head-on with Auburn University at PMAC, only to walk home with a victory scoring an overall 198.300.

Toe-to-toe with Suni Lee and also her childhood buddy, the 21-year-old has anchored LSU to a much-awaited win against Lee’s former team. The most followed NCAA athlete according to the report of 2023, Olivia Dunne hasn’t been very sure of how to go about her post-graduation bit. Even though she hinted at a gymnastic retirement some time ago, will she take it seriously or make a comeback in her fifth year?

Is Olivia Dunne really retiring?

Livvy was very upfront about her retirement and the urge to explore other career options a while ago, but that might not be the case. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic setbacks, Dunne will have a chance to return to her fifth year. But her recently uploaded TikTok post read,  “When the sport I’ve done for the past 18 years will come to an end in less than 2 months.” However, at a press conference that followed that post hinted at a probable backtracking.

Joining the session with teammate Sierra Ballard, Livvy didn’t stand with her previously made statement. “Yeah, I’ve not decided if I’m coming back for a fifth year yet. I could, but I haven’t really thought about it yet,” said Olivia Dunne. Whether she takes her professional gymnastic journey forward or not, the 21-year-old will always be the darling of social media.
