Home/Olympics

Simone Biles has a swarm of supporters by her side who are as steadfast as a rock. When the defending all-around champion withdrew from the coveted Olympics event two years ago, she turned to her family for comfort. Biles is close to her adoptive parents and her half-elder brother Ron Jr’s family, who welcomed a daughter last fall. The little girl soon became the closest ally and best buddy of her aunt, often making a cameo on Biles’s Instagram. The month-old cheered for Simone on the national event locations as she ventured onto the mats this year.

However, the weather blues kept her from traveling to the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championship venue. Although still two months away from turning one, Ronni seems to have taken charge of showering support to her aunt from 5,086 miles away.

Following the team event, the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastic Championship held the all-around women’s finals on October 6. Biles was sharing the spotlight with 2022 Worlds all-around winner Rebeca Andrade and silver medallist Shilese Jones. Meanwhile, Sammi Biles, Simone’s sister-in-law, posted a story of Ronni on Instagram watching the all-around event live from Houston, Texas. The mom-described “wild child” nicknamed Baby Biles was seen finding her own balance inside the cot watching her aunt on TV.

The adorable clip showed Ronni holding the two rings attached to the corner of the cot as she stood up unstable and shaky. Seeing her aunt, the little one cooed, cheered, and beamed from ear to ear flaunting her toothless space. The chaos to stand still continued, accompanied by the event commentary in the background and her loud cheer. Sammi captioned the adorable capture, “watching the girls at @usagym.”

By now Ronni knows one thing for sure, the most adorable ways possible to cheer for her aunt. She’s a huge devotee, from attending her aunt to the National Championships in San Jose to wearing similar leotards. Just a few days back, the youngest family member and fan was rooting for her as she created history. However, being a premature baby she often falls sick and is currently recovering from the same.

What happened to baby Biles?

Simone has openly talked about Sammi’s struggles with IVF, while Ronni’s premature birth made her more prone to health scare. During Biles’ return to gymnastics in Antwerp, Belgium, Sammi posted an update on Instagram captioned “ER for her”. In the photo, Ronni sat on Sammi’s lap looking pale and teary-eyed. Sammi explained that she was suffering from cold and flu symptoms and that it was the RSV season.

That day, Simone became the first woman to land the Yurchenko double pike on the vault in a major competition. Meanwhile, Sammi and Ronni were at a clinic for medical exams. Ronni really watched her aunt at her best! At the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships all-around final at Antwerp’s Sportpaleis, she dominated the floor, putting on a breathtaking one-woman show.

It was a remarkable achievement for the athlete who won her first global all-around title as a 16-year-old, and who was then completely unknown on the international stage ten years ago. After the medal presentation, Biles expressed her emotions, saying, “I was overwhelmed because this is where I won my first world title, and now we’re back.” She wiped away tears as she spoke.
