Dave Portnoy, the king of controversy, never fails to take jabs at popular personalities or sporting events. Current sports occurrences and pop culture news never get overlooked by an American businessman. Barstool Sports, his American blog website, boasts several such banters, roasts, and extreme misunderstandings. Having played football during his early years, Dave has developed a passion for another sport in recent years.

The 46-year-old published his sports betting picks early in his career. Owing to that, his love for sports kept upping. Earlier today, at Writer Cup, conducted by Barstool Sports, Dave engaged in a heated conversation, leading to the use of cuss words.

The opening match of the Writer Cup had taken place early today, and it was not short of a scene. For Barstool writers, the Writer Cup is basically their version of the Ryder Cup. Along similar lines, the Writer Cup follows the same rules, conducted biennially between two nations. Kirk Minihane and Hank went against Francis Ellis and Arian Foster in today’s 2 p.m. bout.

The conflict quickly broke out in the opening match. The argument started after Foster attempted his putt for a four and Francis tapped in for a five. As soon as Francis made his putt, according to Minihane, the team in the scramble format took that hole.

Dave Portnoy, the mind behind Barstool, intervened to try to resolve the situation. Moreover, he called Minihane’s attempt to award his opponents a five on the technicality “crazy.” Right after, Minihane responded, “How f*****g stupid are you!?” That’s where the situation got out of hand. Portnoy went on to say, “There’ll be no tournament tomorrow if you’re gonna cheat”. To this, Kirk went adamant and started throwing, “You’re f*****g s**t, f**k you!”

Dave kept on asserting his diction, asking Kirk and his team to go home with ‘dirtbag’ mindsets. “We’re not in the Minihane world, we’re in the real world….don’t be d*******s!” At one point, author Dan Rapaport even called PGA Tour player Joel Dahmen, who claimed that it is actually a five. The football fanatic wasn’t just involved in this. He has several accolades in his name.

Controversial NFL predictions

Recently, the avid football placed his opinions about a team’s probable win at the 2023 NFL Super Bowl Championship. He simply wanted to predict as a spectator, but things didn’t go smoothly for him. His unfiltered commentary prohibited him from attending all the NFL matches. Owing to his anticipation, he watched the Patriots head-on with the Dolphins, wearing a Patriots jersey. Disappointed with his preferred team’s performance, he wrote on ‘X’ “We may not be a top 5 team in the league”. He also added, “I am downgrading us from the top five teams in the NFL” Utterly agitated with the Dolphins’ performance, Dave commented, “You can’t just spot everybody two touchdowns and come roaring back”.
