Nathan Chen is currently the most talked-about figure skater in the sport. He is not just the prevailing Olympic champion, but surely the best in the business. His performance to ‘Rocketman’ at the Beijing Winter Olympics was nothing short of a masterpiece, and the years of hard work finally paid off with an Olympic gold around his neck.
Although, after his incredible Olympic victory, the American figure skater provided a shocking update of his withdrawal from the World Figure Skating Championship. Just a week before the World Championships, Nathan released a statement, saying, “I am disappointed to have to withdraw from worlds.” The reason for his withdrawal, as he said, was a “nagging injury.”

Nathan and Yuzuru are both out of the world championship
Prior to Nathan Chen’s withdrawal, the Japanese figure skating legend, Yuzuru Hanyu, did the same thing because of his ankle injury. He was injured during the Beijing Winter Olympics. Without Yuzuru, Nathan’s chances of winning his fourth consecutive world cup title were higher. However, he himself had to pull out of the championship due to injury.
Nathan is now replaced by Camden Pulkinen, while Miura Kao will take Hanyu’s place in the World Figure Skating Championship. However, on the bright side, with the two greats out, figure skating will now get its new world champion. Who do you think will lift the title in France?
