”What in the name of Simone Biles”- Fans Draw Similarities Between Nathan Chen and Gymnastics GOAT After His Insane Flips During Stars On Ice

Currently, Nathan Chen is the most talked-about figure skater in the world. He is not only the current Olympic champion, but he is also perhaps the current best in the field.

His performance to ‘Rocketman’ at the winter Olympics was an absolute masterpiece that left the audience mesmerized. Chen is currently on tour with the ‘Stars on Ice’ event.

Nathan Chen Performs in Stars on Ice Tour

Just months after winning the Olympic gold, Chen will be on tour with the ‘Stars on Ice’ event. His fans were left disappointed after he announced his withdrawal from the World Championships just a week before the event. But to their joy, he will be seen performing with many figure skating stars in an ensemble event.

On the first stop of the tour in Orlando, the figure skater pulled off an insane backflip to send the crowd into a frenzy as many of them witnessed the Olympic-banned move for the first time.

The public was quick to react, as they immediately started drawing comparisons between him and legendary gymnast Simone Biles.

One Twitter user wrote, “What in the name of Simone Biles is this sorcery!” in the caption as they shared the clip.

It is truly genius what Nathan Chen can achieve in skates on ice, and this backflip seems to be just the perfect testimony to his skills.

The Similarities Chen and Biles share

Much like Biles, who holds several records outrightly, combining both men’s and women’s gymnastics, Chen is a record-breaker too. Having won 36 total medals, Simone Biles is at the top of the mountain in the sport. Similarly, Nathan Chen holds all the records in figure skating in the men’s category.

Biles is known for her flexibility and flawless execution of her flips and routines. Nathan went on to execute a backflip whilst skating on ice almost effortlessly, which reminded the audience of the genius of Simone.

Apart from being at the summit of their respective sports, the two athletes have also had to tackle mental health issues as they took a break from competing in major events.

During the Tokyo Olympics, Biles withdrew from 4 out of the 5 events she took part in, because of mental health issues. Chen, on the other hand, withdrew from the World Championships owing to some similar issues. Although, Nathan credits Simone Biles to give him a sense of peace in trying times.
