It’s not just a bad day, but an entire bad couple of months for the figure skating legend Yuzuru Hanyu. The year 2022 has been awful for the Japanese skater so far. First came the setback of a sloppy performance in the first round of the men’s figure skating short programme in the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022, followed by an ankle injury, and finally the defeat at the finals of the men’s figure skating event.
He was amongst the top favorite at Olympics, but couldn’t achieve his dream of winning a third consecutive Olympic gold. The two-time Olympic champion failed at landing a perfect quad-axle in the finals. After everything he went through at the Olympics, the same disappointments are following him and his fans’ post Olympics as well.

Yuzuru Hanyu withdraws from the world championship
Here comes yet another shocking news for all the fans, as the Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu withdraws his name from the ISU World Figure Skating Championship that will take place in France from March 21 to March 27 this year. The Japan skating Federations has revealed that the decision was made because of the ankle injury he suffered during the Beijing Winter Olympics. His sprained ankle has not been healed yet and hence he’ll not take part in the world championship.
After his performance at the Beijing Winter Olympics, the legend said,?“I’ve been told to rest (the ankle). First, I will rest and then take it from there.”?
Yuzuru Hanyu performed in the finals of the men’s figure skating short programme with an injured ankle and after the event, he said, “The sprain was worse than I initially thought. Any other competition and I would have definitely pulled out.”?
When will Yuzuru Hanyu appear next on the ice?

The world championship in France was the closest figure skating competition after Winter Olympics, however, it will not feature the Japanese legend Yuzuru Hanyu. He has a lot of time to rest and get back on his amazingly talented feet. After the world championship, he has plenty of time to get fit before the Grand Prix season in October this year, and hopefully he’ll be there.
As for the next Olympics in Milano Cortino, he hasn’t given any solid comments on the subject, but he hasn’t really ruled out the possibility either.
