Kamila Valieva entered the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 as the top favorite for the gold medal. While she did win a gold in the team event, the doping controversy she was part of shattered her dreams of an individual gold at the Olympics. At the end, the promising young figure skater finished fourth in the women’s figure skating short program.
Despite the doping controversy, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) allowed her to compete in the individual event. However, the 15-year-old Kamila couldn’t handle the pressure and media attention and fumbled three times during her final performance.
