The 29-year-old Lee Kiefer has always been a force to reckon with in the fencing world. The 2023 Pan American Games witnessed her foil expertise that she flaunted to climb to the top of the podium once again. Following this, USA Fencing tweeted the news via its official X handle and announced the fourth Pan Am gold of its champion.

The tweet carried the caption, “Make it FOUR Pan Am Games gold medals in a row for Lee Kiefer!” The medal added another accolade to her wall of fame as she stood victorious with her fourth Pan American title. With this, her claim to defending her title in Paris also gets bolstered, as the 2024 Olympics come closer.
Managing medical studies along with Olympic-level training
Lee Kiefer may not get a break from everything even after she chooses to retire after her fourth Olympics appearance. The highly skilled American fencer is a student at the University of Kentucky School of Medicine. Moreover, her husband, who is also an Olympic medalist fencer, is also studying medicine along with her.

The couple have currently halted their studies for the Pan Am Games, following which they’ll be heading to Paris. Kiefer began her international journey in fencing at 17 before she finished high school.
The young Kiefer surprised the entire world by winning a bronze medal at the World Championships, and two Pan Am gold medals at 17. While she entered the 2012 Olympics with zero stress, a medal-less campaign subjected her to extra pressure in 2016. She later joined medical school at 22, which changed her perspective, and allowed her to hone herself as well as her foil. This resulted in a long-awaited gold medal in Tokyo.

As she is all girded up to perform her magic in the French capital, Kiefer stated, “I know that I can do it again and I think that’s really powerful.” As the future doctor heads into her fourth Olympics, her fans will cheer for her to repeat her golden Olympic run.
