“What is in Store for Women”: Former Olympian Caitlyn Jenner Raises Deep Concern About Future of Women in F1

Caitlyn Jenner may have most of her influence after being a member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan and a parent to influencers like Kim and Kylie, but she has a very significant sport-related identity too. Caitlyn has been an Olympian. As a transwoman, Caitlyn was previously known as Bruce Jenner and had always had active participation in sports. While in school, she’d first begun competing in state-level skiing competitions along with some track events. But her big break came during her college years. In college, following a brief stint with football Jenner immersed herself in the decathlon.

Her practice paid off in 1976 during the Munich Olympics. Jenner was placed 10th in the meet. She also bagged an AAU title in 1975 and set a world record during the triangular meet. Caitlyn had also achieved a gold medal in the decathlon at the 1976 Montreal Olympics and, also bagged a second AAU title and her second record. Thus, it is no surprise that this influential figure would use her social media to speak about gender equality in sports.

Caitlyn Jenner retweets to start an important discussion

On the last day of August 2022, Caitlyn used her official Twitter account to remind the sports world about an important ongoing discussion. She tweeted an article by ESPN about the uncertain future of women drivers in F1.

F1 as a sport has become insanely popular but no other race has been started by a woman since 1976. F1’s CEO has come forth to further comment on the situation stating how the dream of seeing female drivers start a race is ‘very unlikely.’

She wrote, “Great article re: @F1 and what is in store for women drivers in the sport!”. Her tweets did manage to gain some attention, with a few fans showing their frustration at the whole management system of F1. Safe to say, as a sportsperson she did start a talk about inclusivity and equality.

Caitlyn has a distinguished career that people don’t probe into much. As a former Olympian, she earned gold for her country and set records. She has also been one of the most prominent US athletes to declare her gender identity. Other than decathlon and track sports, she was also a part in skiing and soccer. Further, featured in magazines like sports illustrated too. Currently, she also runs her empire and has a net worth of around $120 million.
