Bull Riding is a sport that the audience has always enjoyed watching in real life. The blood and the guts and the glory ensure that the sport is highly entertaining, albeit dangerous. This entertainment factor has now ensured that Bull Riding will soon become a part of the reality TV hemisphere, and it is being brought to life by none other than Kinetic Content.

The American television production company, Kinetic Content, was launched in 2010 and since then has been responsible for the creation and production of TV shows on a global scale. After producing a plethora of successful reality shows, such as “Love Is Blind” and “The Ultimatum”, the company is now ready to dominate the sports world, specifically, the world of professional bull riding (PBR).

In the year 2022, Karri Wolfe, the EVP, and co-head of development of Kinetic Content, came across an interesting notion. Wolfe read about how the nation’s adoration of the television series “Yellowstone”, was helping launch bull riding as a team sport. Consequently, a team series was adopted in bull riding and new franchises were being formed by billionaires left, right, and center.

Not only had a new era begun in the sport of bull riding, but, Wolfe suddenly realized that there was immense potential to create a whole new television series based on this new format.

According to Variety, Wolfe recalled, “‘Yellowstone’ was a colossal success. ‘Drive to Survive’ on Netflix showed that you can take a niche sport and bring in a global audience of men and women. All of these things combined when I read the article, I thought, ‘There’s a show here.” She reached out to Sean Gleason, who is the CEO and commissioner of PBR.

Together they gave birth to “The Ride”, a docu-series which will follow real-life cowboys Jose Vitor Leme, Ezkiel Mitchell, Dakota Louis, Eli Vastbinder. While Wolfe was one of the million people who watch PBR on television, she had no technical knowledge of the sport and had no idea why the professional cowboys subjected themselves to such danger.

She often asked herself, “Why did they actually get on that 2,000-pound rage-filled beast and risk their lives every single time? What is their motivation?” The answers she got were visceral, yet honest and inspiring. Some professional bull riders told her that they did it because of a chip on their shoulder, while others are simply there to support their family financially and gain some glory in the process.

These stories touched Wolfe, and she said, “…they’re beautifully filmed and they’re intense and visceral, but the heart of the show are the human stories.” It will be exciting to see what Wolfe will cull out of these real-life cowboys to bring to the show. There are sure to be some amazing behind-the-scenes.
