Trainer Dan Blacker has been accused of incomplete vet checks after the death of a 2-year-old filly Animae.

After such serious accusations upon him, the trainer shared a statement from his behalf on social media. He has shared his side of the story with complete honesty. Dan Blacker shares his statement with the equestrian community?

Dan Blacker, the trainer, was accused of running horses through 527 workouts in 1 1/2 years without completing veterinary checks beforehand. The California Horse Racing Board laid the allegations upon the trainer on the 8th of September 2023. After the death of a 2-year-old filly, CHRB made the accusations against Blacker. The organization stated that the horse was not examined by his present veterinarian, entering into EquiTAPS database during the 72 hours immediately after an official workout.

After doing the analyzations, they found that the horse did 789 official workouts with 527 of them did not have a veterinary examination completed prior to in violation of CHRB rule 1878. After this extremely damaging accusation, Blacker took to his Twitter for sharing a statement regarding the same. He stated that horse welfare is the top priority of his barn and it has been 11 years of his training. Blacker has always been an advocate for safety and medication reform.

The trainer further added that, “I want to make it clear that I am in contact with my veterinary team daily. We jog up every horse, every day before they go to the track. The horses in training are thoroughly evaluated by myself, my team, and my veterinarian on routine basis.”?After this, he explained the severity of the injury of her horse and took responsibility of the actions as well. After his statement, the internet showed support for the trainer.
