The Grand Prix is one of the most prestigious events for any aspiring equestrian in show jumping. The stage offers a challenging environment with the highest jumps and complex courses. Contesting in the Grand Prix event is a goal of many budding enthusiasts as they step into the industry. Over the past week, it was a dream come true for one of these aspiring athletes, Alexander Yde Helgstrand as he took the debuting step.
Alexander Helgstrand, the 20-year-old equestrian is steadily making his presence in the industry. A couple of years in, he made quite an appearance in the dressage field backed by his family name. However, along his long journey ahead, Alexander took one of his most important steps at the Grand Prix last week. As the youngster returned from his milestone, he wasn’t the only one celebrating.
Aspiring equestrian shows a promising beginning

The young equestrian hails from the Netherlands and from a familiar equestrian family. Alexander grew up around these magnificent creatures naturally picking up the passion for the sport. Hence making a start, the equestrian aced multiple events before he headed to the Grand Prix at World Cup Herning from the 17th of October. “International Grand Prix debut!” Alexander wrote on his Instagram post. “…this was my first time riding Grand Prix on international level and also my first ever Grand Prix special.”?

The 2023 World Cup Herning hosted its 5-day event from the 17th to 22nd welcoming the best of the dressage athletes from across the world. For his first International Grand Prix, Alexander put up a total of 68.457 placing 7th among the 17 contending. For the Grand Prix Special, the youngster moved up two spaces with 69.532, placing among the top 5 to earn 300?. The youngster who has had numerous eyes on him since his debut couldn’t help but cheer for his success.

A Grand Prix can be a huge step for any equestrian in show jumping. And when Alexander took on his debut stage, the proud spectators poured in their appreciation. “Congratulations,” a user wrote while another cheered on with “You deserve that Alexander ! Well done, both of you,” referring to his horse, Mario.
While the congratulations poured in, the youngster also received love from his fans in the Netherlands. “Mega flot!!” (Super nice) one wrote, as another followed with “Du er s? sej!!!” (You are so cool).? Clapping hands and hearts filled the section for the enthusiast as a fan appreciated Alexander for his performance and caption. “Congratulations, brilliant result and so nice to see someone thanking others and their horse,”?they wrote.

Going further Alexander wishes to compete at the Global Dressage Festival in 2024 and the European Championships. The appreciative supporters have a lot to look forward to as the youngster treads on his impressive journey.
