Injuries are the most dreadful thing one can come across, especially while doing their favorite thing. One of the similar cases whose explanation will give goosebumps is of Equestrian Larry Cassidy. Cassidy, a staunch equestrian who is an accomplished thoroughbred racing jockey, and a 40-time Group 1 winner. He started his career in New Zealand and has also won the Melbourne Cup on Kiwi in 1983. However, recently, things went downhill for the equestrian as he ruptured a disc in his back while he was riding at a prestigious venue in April.

He had no idea that an injury will turn into a brutal laceration and as a result he will have to stay away from the field. Larry Cassidy has tried everything he could, like physiotherapy and other solutions for recovering. But nothing was proved to be useful for him. He has expressed that it was one of the most difficult times for him and has not experienced such a amount of pain in his entire career.

Equestrian Larry’s horrific incident that led to an immensely damaging back injury

Larry Cassidy, who is also referred to as “Last Race Larry” because of his way of winning the last race in Brisbane, is expected to be out of the equestrian field for almost six weeks. He went through the injury in a very harmless manner. There was no typical pattern of falling down or things like these. He was just riding Kevin Kemp’s two-year-old Russian Alliance at Doobmen and he was deep and was trying to pull back to slot in. While he was pulling back, he felt something in his back go.

He expressed, “Throughout the race, I was getting pains shooting down my leg and up my arm.” He had no control during the race and without giving any botheration to the pain, he rode in the next race and then the doctors stood him down. Larry added, “The stewards could see there was something drastically wrong with me.” The agony Larry is facing is unbelievable. Even after opting for physiotherapy and other ways, he realized the surgery was the only way out of his critical condition.

The talented equestrian went through immense pain for his back injury 

One of the most talented equestrians, who is a Group 1-winning Jockey Larry Cassidy, has lived one of the most difficult nightmares. With a major back injury, he faced in April, his condition has just worsened. After so many attempts, he landed up in the hospital. He expressed, “They told me to get a cortisone injection in my back which I had done Friday, and they said it should give me some relief.” Even after this, he said that he got no relief and was taken straightaway to the hospital that night.

According to Townsville Bulletin, it was extremely horrific for Cassidy, he stated, “I couldn’t get off the floor, I was screaming in pain and deadset sobbing, it was horrific.” The pain was so immense that he could not move at all. If he did, the pain was just unbearable. He also had really bad kidney stones before, but this was still worse than that. He states, “I’m thinking I will be out for six weeks, I’m hoping maybe I could get on a horse in five weeks.”
