White Abarrio became the winner of the Grade 1 $1 million Whitney Stake. White Abarrio is a multiple Grade 1 winning American Thoroughbred racehorse. He has proved his worth by securing the title of Florid Derby against some of the best competitors in the US.
White Abarrio made this win at Saratoga extremely memorable for his trainer Rick Dutrow Jr. And the thing that shocked the spectators was that their favorite Cody’s Wish was left behind by White Abarrio at the race. This unpredictable win was a very good one with high scores to be matched.

White Abarrio graced the Saratoga Race Course with his amazing win. He won the Grade 1 $1 million Whitney Stakes on 5th August, Saturday. Cody’s Wish had attempted to attain a win at an 11/8-mile distance, but this did not go as planned. He attained the third position at 2-5 odds, staying 10 lengths behind White Abarrio.
According to Paulick Report, Abarrio ridden by Iran Ortiz Jr., won by 6 1/4 lengths, Zandon was standing at the second position, and with 3 3/4 lengths, Cody’s Wish came in third. Cody’s Wish participated with a six-race win streak. Dutrow must have received the best gift from Abarrio on his 64th birthday. He gave Dutrow his first Grade 1 win after he served a 10-year suspension. Dutrow expressed “It’s the best present I’ve ever had for my birthday.”
It was a very interesting race to witness. White Abarrio had already kept five lengths on the field as Cody’s Wish bettered his position by implementing a wide move. And Landon on the other hand was proposed for his best run. However, there was no chance of leaving White Abarrio behind. The trainers and the riders all of them expressed their feelings about the race. Some were extremely happy and some knew that they could have done much better.

The very obvious emotion which was flowing all over the Saratoga Race Course was of Rick Dutrow Jr. The trainer of White Abarrio could not be happier with the win and was grateful for the trust the owner of Abarrio showed in him. They did not expect to win the race, but as mentioned it was an amazing upset win.
Abarrio’s rider Iras Ortiz stated, “I was working him before this and he was so positive on the horse. I knew he was going to break good and I could sit second or third from there.” He also added, “The horse was ready and he took me all the way to the quarter-pole nice and easy, and when I asked him, he was there for me.”

One of the best horses Cody’ Wish jockey Junior Alvarado also expressed his feelings about the race. He tried his best to keep his horse confident. He stated, “He jumped OK and the second jump, I don’t know, the ground broke underneath and he felt very awkward from behind.” He sadly added, “I don’t think he ran his race today. It might have been the distance.” This race was a surprise for the equestrian community, it was a happy gift for someone and a lesson for the other.
