Jess’s Dream is an 11-year-old equine. Sired by Curlin and Rachel Alexandra, he has just one start to his name, which came in Saratoga Springs, New York, in the summer of 2015. After a slow beginning, Jess’s Dream staged a remarkable fightback to win the race by a length and claim $49,800 in winnings. He retired to Ocala Stud in 2016. His promise as a racehorse never came to fruition. Regardless, he is an equestrian marvel.

No longer on the roster as a stallion for Ocala Stud, Jess’s Dream is now a gelding. That chapter in his life is forevermore closed. Just as it appeared as though his career in equestrian sport reached its inevitable end, Jess’s Dream will begin something new soon.

Possibly after getting some time to adjust to his life outside the competitive arena, Jess’s Dream will embark on a third career as a track pony. Stonestreet Stables LLC, the owner of the equine, made the announcement on their social media channels. They aim to unveil him in said career in the new year. Both his sire and dam were named Horse of the Year. The former got that accolade in 2007 and 2008, while the latter secured it in 2009.

Track ponies are used to keep thoroughbred racehorses’ behavior in check. They are too young and far too strong in their primes. An aged gelding will help the spirited younger horses settle down and focus on their work. That makes the equestrian experience safer for all involved. Jess’s Dream fits the bill perfectly. The decision by Stonestreet Stables was met with approval across the board.

An outpouring of love from the equestrian community at that decision

The equestrian fans were jubilant at the new career option facing the much-loved equine. They replied to the post and expressed their joy at said decision. One fan noted it was a great decision. They expressed their hopes for his new career, writing, “What a wonderful way to care for Jess’s Dream! I’m sure he’ll do great in his new career.”

Another affirmed their love for the decision. They thanked the owners for ensuring Jess’ Dream would enjoy what’s left of his life, penning, “Love this! Thank you for giving him the best chance to enjoy his life.”

Yet another admitted to being worried after not seeing his name on the Ocala 2024 roster. They added they hoped to see him in action in his new career, writing, “Was wondering about our sweet boy when I noticed he wasn’t listed on Ocala’s 2024 stallion roster. Thanks for the update! Hope to see him at work someday!”

One more fan reminisced about the solitary race Jess’s Dream won. They wrote, “So sorry that he didn’t work out at stud. I had high hopes too. But I will never forget how he came from so far back to win his race. THANK YOU for giving him a new job! You guys are the best! The absolute best!”
