With developments and globalization, people’s entertainment has evolved. But unfortunately, the changes in entertainment have not changed the treatment of animals who suffer. From aquariums to zoos, the animals have endured years of human torment. And with modern entertainment, these creatures are being tormented under the glare of Hollywood.

Such actions taken by the movie sets are sometimes truly unintentional and caused by an accident, but sometimes Hollywood also uses animals intentionally to create a shock for the audience. Recently, a member of a film set also shared footage of two poor horses getting injured on the set.

On July 15, Peta (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) posted a YouTube short captioned “This Devastating Horse Crash Shows Why Animals Should Never Be Forced onto a Film or TV Set” to showcase a horse accident on a TV set. The footage was provided by the On-set Whistleblower of a TV production set, and in the video, two horses tied to a carriage crash into the wishbone gate and fall to the ground. Later, the video also revealed that one of the horses reportedly sustained injuries, including fractures, due to this accident.

Sadly, this incident is not the only one where Animal cruelty took place. Horses have been injured for years for entertainment purposes. The list also includes the 2006 movie Flicka. The movie directed by Michale Mayer is about horse lovers, but sadly, it has induced a fair share of injuries to the horses.

Flicka a movie far from reality

This movie is an adventure drama film that revolves around a Mustang named Flicka. This piece of entertainment depicts the love shared between an animal and a young girl. However, in reality, the story was far from the truth. According to the American Humane Association, a horse broke his leg and fractured his tibia during a scene. While another horse broke his neck after the animal tripped on a lead rope.

According to the American Humane Association’s Guidelines for the Safe Use of Animals in Filmed Media, the injuries sustained by the horses were not intentional, nor did the trainers fail to provide complete training to the horses. However, irrespective of who’s to blame, the poor animals suffering a huge torment for just the sake of entertainment is not a good enough reason. Overall, the poor animals getting destroyed for entertainment will forever be a setback for this community.
