The US equestrian team stood to attain a new feat over the week through another venture. Through its decades of presence, the organization has accumulated numerous accolades, including 52 Olympic medals. Following along, this time around, the team is expecting to add another feather to the hat with their Endurance Riding team; whose beginning possibly dates back to the early 2000s.
Endurance Rides is one of the most challenging of a field in equestrian sport. Athletes are expected to ride through distances measuring over 100 km each contest. Team USA, trying its hand at excellence, made its 2023 FEI Pan American Endurance Championships presence in Chile. Though the athletes fell short of a podium finish, it was a successful run.

The 2023 Pan Am Endurance Championship was a week-long event hosted in Llay Llay, Chile. On Friday, the 24th the contest welcomed Seniors and juniors/Young Riders to endure a distance of 120km. Team USA, short of the required combination, saw the spectacle of Uma Kraskin with her equine CL Magnolia. Impressed at the performance, the US equestrian organization took to Instagram to share appreciation for the riders. “Congratulations to our team for representing the U.S. and to Uma Kraskin and CL Magnolia for completing in her first senior championship,“ the caption read as the post showcased stills from the event.

The Pan Am event reportedly only saw Chile with a complete team of three combinations to earn a team result. Thus when the US team faced the challenge, it was Uma Kraskin and her 9-year-old equine who shined through for the rest. The youngster who was making her senior championship team debut saw quite satisfactory results.

The young champion makes it through
It was Uma against 28 other riders on the field on Friday. The youngster who had had prior practice on a 120km course stated that the track was technical yet manageable. Uma finished 13th on the table while Chile’s Martin Garcia Lazo took the top spot.

Cheryl Van Deusen, Nicole Beck, and Tom Rajala were other USA riders for the day. Though the results weren’t to the desire, Chef d’Equipe Lisanne Dorion had a different notion. He stated that the team came home not with visible success but with less visible ones, like that of team unity and respect. “this bodes well for rebuilding endurance in the U.S,” he said and the path looked right and well.
