“This is a Shame”: Equestrian Hearts Sink as Florida Aftercare Group Navigates Loss of Home in Property Sale

The equestrian world has its own perks and is a fun element. However, some of its dark sides should not be ignored. With the development of our world, the growth of horses and their safety should be considered as well. It is not fair to ruin places for innocent equines for human benefit. One such situation is taking place for one equine rescue near Port Saint John, Fla. New properties emerging in every area are not hidden by anyone, and the hike in their process is coming at the cost of innocent equines.

The sacrifice of equine accommodation is not an acceptable practice, yet it is hampering the situation for horses in the equine rescue. After the update about selling this rescue home for development, the equestrian community is extremely disheartened. They have voiced their concern regarding the same to save the horses from being affected by the development for other benefits.

Equestrian life being affected by the development of property 

The Hidden Acres Rescue for Thoroughbreds (HART) has been running its agendas on the same property in Cocoa. Recently, the organizers of the rescue house have been informed that the owner of the property is facing some issues and needs to let go of the property. Dawn Krout, the President of HART, mentioned that the area is near Cape Canaveral and has experienced growth with increased employment. This has stretched the limits of present housing.

The rescue property is six and a half acres, which includes both a rescue and a boarding operation. The organizers at Hart shared the story on their Facebook account and captioned it, “We’re losing all these little boarding barns these days to developers, so kids today have no place to go to learn about horses”. 

They also mentioned that they are missing out on the chance to nurture the next generation of horse enthusiasts and racing supporters. The entire horse racing world is absolutely devastated at this situation and has filled the comment section with their consolation and anger.

Netizens disheartened after the news of an equine rescue

It is indeed a disheartening situation to witness homes for innocent equines getting disrupted for human benefit. The HART organizers have tried doing everything possible and are still trying to save their treasure. The equestrian world has shown a saddening response to such an unfortunate incident. An individual from the community stated, “This is a shame. Wonderful facility doing great things with aftercare”.

Following this, another one stated, “This is the result… the cause needs to be talked about and addressed”. Considering the consequence of the mishap happening, another horse lover commented, “Sad. And homes are built close together. Picture the community in 20 years.”

Alarming the society about the requirement of this place, one of them expressed, “These places are so needed for kids and horses!!“. Following this, another one stated, “Learning to care for horses and learning to ride at a riding stable is a life changing event”. We should heavily discuss this concern in each and every corner of the world to save the lives and future of the horses.
