Jennifer Gates may be occupied with juggling the responsibilities of equestrianism, family life and medical studies. But she never minds getting into a good novel. Since she hails from a family of philanthropists who have massive contributions to technology, her decision to choose higher studies made sense. Now, even after she has received her medical degree, she continues flipping over the pages.

It’s that time of the year when families reunite to bake cookies and sing carols together. The Gates family also has a grand celebration planned for Christmas. But before Jenn dives into family time, she took some time to go through her favorite book picks of 2023. In a recent post, she gave a shout out to her favorite authors and their creations.

Besides bonding with equines, Jennifer Gates bonds quite well with books. And 2023 has been lighter on her mental health because Jenn let her favorite picks take her worries away. The first Instagram story says, “Reading has been a form of self care for me as long as I can remember. Escaping into stories, focusing on the pages somehow quells my anxious mind and allows me to explore another reality through storytelling.” Moving on, the former first lady of the US, Michelle Obama’s ‘The Light We Carry’ story caught attention. Captioning it as “Obviously”, Jenn expressed her interest in reading about the powerful strategies of staying hopeful and balanced.

Further on, she posted the book cover of “Anna: The Biography”, a masterpiece by Amy Odell. Jenn capped off the story as “An interesting and nuanced perspective on the life and legacy of Anna Wintour.” The 74-year-old woman has gained fame for her humongous influence in the fashion and the journalism industry. Currently positioned as a media executive based in New York, Wintour’s rise to popularity and everything beyond has been illustrated in the biography.

But Jennifer Gates is not the only bookworm in her family. Impressively, she has passed on this reading hobby to her closest ones as well.

Jenn recommended books to Bill Gates

Last year in June, billionaire Bill Gates had shared his summer book list with his fanbase. “Gender equality, political polarization, climate change, and the hard truth that life never goes the way young people think it will”, were the topics that the Microsoft co-founder essentially covered. But his eldest daughter had instilled the reading habit and the first book recommendation came from her.

While speaking of “The Power” by Naomi Alderman, Bill Gates had said, “I’m glad that I followed my older daughters’ recommendation and read this novel.” Jenn’s pick reflected her own way of thinking as the book talks about girls acquiring a sudden power to kill with a touch.
