Equestrian fans consider Secretariat as the greatest racehorse of all time. Undoubtedly, with his record-breaking victory as the first Triple Crown winner, the legendary thoroughbred had a multitude of accolades. With total earnings of $1,316,808, this magnificent horse has won 16 of his 21 career races. In addition, Secretariat is best known for his remarkable performance at the Churchill Downs Racetracks, with a record-setting Kentucky-Derby win. It’s been 50 years since that historic moment. However, out of the incomprehensible amount of children he sired between 1975 and 1990, only two lived to celebrate the 50th.

One of the last two living progenies was Trusted Company. Born on Valentine’s Day the same year as Secretariat’s death, Trusted Company had a long life ahead. The special offspring of the legend, the last living daughter, breathed her last.

At Bright Futures Farm, the gorgeous 34-year-old found a home among several other aged horses. In this era, where caring for aged horses is time consuming, Bee Dev, the farm owner, emerged as an angel. When Trusted Company’s last owner gave up on her nourishment, Bee provided shelter to her in 2018. For a horse lover like her, it was viable to speak up for the suffering horses. She said, ?They fall through the cracks, they get shipped off to slaughter in other countries, it?s horrible. No animal should have to go through that”.

A lot of photographers/reporters document Secretariat’s legacy, but none like Patricia McQueen. Since she is an avid follower of the legendary bloodline, the news was first posted on the journalist’s social media account. McQueen recalled her first encounter with the horse, posting pictures to honor her as a sweet goodbye.

Equestrian World mourns the death of the special offspring

For a horse to live to be 30, it’s unlikely. But this senior horse lived longer. Fans had taken to Patricia McQueen’s Facebook post to express grief over the unfortunate loss of the Equestrian world. One fan expressed how Trusted Company resembled her father, especially the ears getting alerted by the slightest noise. She said, “So sorry to hear this sad news. Company was a beautiful girl who looked very much like her handsome dad. Rip.” Another fan expressed sorrow with a broken heart emoji.
