The equestrian world has a reason to celebrate as the Western European League of the FEI Dressage World Cup concluded its first leg in Herning, Denmark. The Swedish artist Patrik Kittel waved his victory flag with back-to-back medals, displaying his freestyling finesse. With a fourth finish at the 2008 Olympics, he recognized his soul in dressage. Since then, he failed to stop participating in big games like World Cups. Some days back, another win of his received love and admiration of his fans.

For a 47-year-old who had been in this field for 25 years, winning all the four classes was nothing less than magical. With a remarkable 84.065, he won the judges’ hearts. Declaring, “I just take one show at a time and enjoy it!,” he proved that he’s a man of his words. After the dressage controversy and average Olympic performances, fans applauded Kittel’s inspirational presence.

In a recent Instagram post, LeeP media shared a video of Kittel’s interview after his win in all 4 classes. They captioned the post as “When was the last time you won 4 classes in one weekend?” Patrick had an amazing weekend at @worldcupherning winning all of his classes.” When asked this question, they may have caught the Olympian off guard, but the answer surprised them. Unfortunately, not many accolades are in his name, but his sportsmanship gets commended again.

He replied, “May be on L level, when I was 12. I don’t think that is common, especially on this level. We are riding World Cups and high-level shows with high-level competitors.” Shedding light on his early life struggles, he said, “I used to be scared of everybody, and say, I don’t fit in here.” Years of staying under the belief that he isn’t good enough, the 47-year-old finally did his “own thing” and “own riding”.

After embracing the mantra “I can only do my own,” he became a stronger competitor, reaching the pinnacle with his 11-year-old gelding, Touchdown. In response, fans poured in to express their love.

Fans have admiration for Kittel

One commenter said that Kittel’s win inspired him, while also accepting her self-deprecating mindset. She said, “Really needed this! It’s my second dressage competition on Sunday next week. And I feel like you did, that I don’t fit in.” Another fan had nothing but love for Patrik as a person and a great sportsman as well. She wrote, “That is so so right Patrik, and I love your riding. I love how you work with the horses, build up trust and respect each other. Wish you all the best for the upcoming shows.”
