“Poor Babies”: Equestrian Heroes, Rescuers Applauded by Community After Saving Abused Horses

The world of equestrian enthusiasts transcends the normalcies of what the rest have to offer. The sport or the passion holds the uniqueness of the connection experienced between humans and horses. However, as often as that holds, there are moments running, that contradict the stance. The equestrian enthusiasts on and off the field are often caught in the act of negligence; working against the very principle of the practice.

While there are cases that have been taken action against, there is no immediate end to the trouble. According to the reports, there has been an estimated count of 100 thousand pet horse abuse over the year of 2020. And in the most recent of the events, the enthusiasts witnessed a horrifying number of fatalities; accompanied by equally tragic details. Over the last weekend, the Colbert County residents stumbled upon an unlikely situation. The matter, significant enough, surfaced on the internet, receiving a concerned response from the enthusiasts online.

Alabama city encounters uninvited occurrence

On the 2nd of October, the Colbert County authorities reported a dreadful situation concerning the involvement of horses alongside numerous dogs. When the authorities pulled in on a 63-year-old resident’s house, they stumbled upon animals in dire condition. The County reported that there were 29 horses that were found dead and 40 dogs left in hostile conditions.

Following the news, the community gathered to offer help in rescuing the stranded animals. The Colbert County Animal Shelter took the lead in bringing out the 20 alive horses with the disheveled dogs. Trailing right behind, people chimed in to search for homes for the lost animals, whilst asking for donations to look after and feed the horses. With all hands on deck, the residents reigned successful in accomplishing the needful.

The Colbert County Animal Shelter took to Facebook to appreciate the volunteers for all the help provided. “We are also sooo thankful for the people who donated to these babies! We could not do this without all of your support!” The post read followed by images of the animals rescued.

The operation called for an immense amount of support and work from the community. Thus learning the journey to the end and the process that ran behind, the enthusiasts expressed relief and appreciation.

People express gratitude towards the equestrian heroes

The users online following the case couldn’t help but share the appreciation the team deserved for saving both the horses and the dogs. “This is awful! Thank you for the work you do to help these poor defenseless animals” a user said. While another commented, “This is so heartbreaking  thank you to all the wonderful people who helped save these babies big and small. All of you deserve a metal for all you do.”

The situation evoked emotions in the spectators online. A user experiencing the same left a heartfelt comment, “Omg this brings me to tears. Thank god and bless all the rescue angels for stepping in and saving these babies. There’s a special place in Heaven for each of you.”  And another read, “Them poor babies, Thank You for being there for them.”

As endless Thank You messages and hearts poured in for the team, there were also people who wished for stricter action in place. “Thank you to everyone involved with savings these souls. I wish the person responsible could be caged…Alabama needs to get tougher on animal abuse.”

By the end of day 2, the shelter had successfully found a home for every dog. While the animals went to a safer place, the convict was charged with 15 counts of animal cruelty and one charge of obstructing government operations.
