Belterra Park has a well-renowned equestrian racetrack. The video clip of the race receiving flak on social media was conducted on 2nd August 2023. Rider Gregory Romero was riding Scooteranddabigman and was leading the race. The rookie racehorse, which could have achieved its first victory, ended up with an unbelievable second-position finish.

The slowed-down video clip clearly shows Romero in the clear while rider John McKee gained speed on him. While spectators thought that Romero would easily speed through and win the race, he did the unexpected and slowed down while turning his head to watch McKee pass by. Legendary equestrian Chantal Sutherland called out Romero in a tweet and tagged the Belterra Park racetrack as well.
