The 2023 season of equestrian sports is currently underway and is doing exceptionally well. This season saw one of the highest pairings of rookie horses with established trainers. In fact, fans are also loving the energy brought in by the new racehorses. The caravan of exciting rookie races now heads to the esteemed Gulfstream Park of Florida, where all eyes will watch out for Jose D’Angelo.

Jose D’Angelo is relatively green equestrian sports compared to the various giants in the industry. However, he has shown great effectiveness when it comes to winning races. Intrestingly, D’Angelo headed to the Gulfstream Park racetrack with his trusted filly, Call Me Spicy, with just one objective: to win.

Call Me Spicy is a three-year-old filly bred in the state of Florida. The equestrian racehorse didn’t have much to show on record before entering the race at Gulfstream Park. Jose D’Angelo, however, had complete faith in the young filly. Heading into the race, the greatest threat faced by the duo was the six-year-old Gitana. Owned and trained by Fernando Abreu, Gitana possesses dangerous speed and balance. However, D’Angelo had his own game plan to win the race.

The equestrian trainer went candid about his racehorse before entering the race. He said, “I liked her last race. She ran a good race.” However, he wasn’t all praises for his greenhorn filly. He also mentioned, “What I didn’t like is that she went too fast on the lead. She was fighting with two other fillies. She was fighting from the start.” Using his insight, he determined that the filly should run behind the speed in order to do better. Jockey Edgard J. Zayas heeded D’Angelo’s advice on the day of the race and, unsurprisingly, left everyone in the dust.

With this, Jose D’Angelo also has a trump card up his sleeve for the upcoming filly races. D’Angelo would definitely like to capitalize on the momentum Call Me Spicy has gained.
