Humans and animals often work as a team. People in all regions started the domestication of wild animals centuries ago. However, the current world of mass production and management gives little importance to the means as long as their ends are met. A recently uploaded video on social media shows how cruelly wild horses are being captured for domestication.
Our tribal and rancher ancestors have always exercised great care while managing animals. They treat them with love and respect. However, big corporations and the government do not always show this concern. The viral video on Twitter shows how wild horses are being caught brutally. One of the wild horses who didn’t wish to be tamed got injured while escaping and suffered an injury. The clip of the injured horse made Twitter fume at the inhumane act by the government.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) oversees public lands and is tasked with their maintenance. Their job also involves enhancing the productivity of these lands and sustaining them for future generations. The viral video covered the operations of BLM Nevada and was shot by the organization “Wild Horse Education (WHE).” The organization is registered with the IRS and is devoted to the welfare of wild horses.
The video shows a wild horse escaping from a pen and injuring its leg in the process. While the horse was out of captivity, its freedom was short-lived as it limped away from its unwanted home. The horse, however, was still chased down by the BLM using a helicopter. Investigative reporter Vanessa Murphy tweeted the video by Wild Horse Education.
The federal government continues to use helicopters to capture #wildhorses.@WildHorseEdu is demanding that the @blmnv stop two operations happening NOW in Nevada.
At least 5 horses died.
Millions continue to be spent on these roundups.
Critics call them inhumane. Here’s why: pic.twitter.com/u07eLSPhoI

Murphy stated that the continuous usage of helicopters to round and capture wild horses is proving lethal for them. She stated that the government is spending millions on these capture missions that have led to the death of five horses so far. Murphy also linked a news article about the statistics of the brutal means used by the government.

According to Laura Leigh from Wild Horse Education, the escaped horse was shot and killed. Leigh also reported the death of a young foal at a pen. Wild Horse Education and Leigh are advocating against the government roundups. They are demanding the government put a permanent stop to the operations against the wild horses by the BLM in Eastern Nevada. They also requested a temporary halt due to the heat index if a permanent stop can’t be arranged.

Speaking on the atrocities, Leigh said, “July is actual foaling season in this area. BLM does not identify foaling season using data, just assertion.” She said that while mares and foals are very vulnerable at this time of the year, the stallions are also at risk. Considering that the stallions will be aggressive towards any hostility during this time, she demands these operations stop. She said that the wild horses would be protecting their families, and the government trying to round them up would make things worse.
