$15,989,790 Worth Equestrian Trainer’s Horse Approaches Another Remarkable Grade 1 Victory in a Streak

Woodbine Racetrack is one of the prestigious race tracks for thoroughbred horse racing in the world. Owners and trainers flock with their horses to take part and win in various races conducted over the track and glitter their equestrian careers. Some trainers have a remarkable record at the track and have a reputation for landing winning horses at Woodbine.

Among these trainers is Charlie Appleby, the trainer at the famed Godolphin. Appleby has a tremendous record at Wodbine and that too in Grade 1 races with victories in the last seven races.  This is a spectacular streak for Breeder’s Cup-winning trainer who is now looking to extend it in the coming race at Woodbine.

Equestrian trainer aims for the Grade 1 race

According to paulickreport, on Saturday the $500,000 Grade 1 Johnnie Walker Natalma Stakes will take place. Charlie Appleby is taking part in this Grade 1 one-mile turf race through  Dazzling Star. This grade 1 race is the “Win and You’re In”  race for entry in next month’s Grade 1  Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf of the same distance at Santa Anita. Dazzling Star has raced three races in its career to date and has won one of them. Her last race was at the Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot where it finished in fourth position. Since then this race has been her card after the impressive show at Ascot.  Appleby has won the Johnnie Walker Natalma Stakes two times previously. The first was in the year 2018 with La Pelosa and the other was in the year 2021 with Wild Beauty.

Speaking on Dazzling Star’s participation in the race over fifteen million dollars worth Appleby said, “It is a race which we like to target each year, and she has a similar profile to our other fillies who we have run in the past with success“. The trainer considers the challenge his horse shall face especially at the left-handed turn on one mile race track. But he thinks that she shall prevail because she “settles well in her work at home “. For him, the track is fair and will only help Dazzling Star. The trainer faces tough competition from other trainers like Mike Casse, Chad Brown, and others.

Other competitors at the stakes

Charlie Appleby and Dazzling Star have to go through considerable competition at the Johnnie Walker Natalma Stakes after having tough opponents taking part in it. Ozara has a maiden win at a 1 1/16 mile race trained by Christophe Clement. Trainer Mark Casse is looking to claim his eighth of stakes and has landed four horses at the stakes- Golden Canary, Go With Gusto, Ready to Jam, and Dancing Duchess.  Kevin Attard trained Airosa, the winner of Catch A Glimpse along with his trained two other horses Bolt Enoree and Rhapsody are taking part in the race. Other than the above-mentioned five other horses are taking part – Dea Matrona, Brocknardini, She Feels Pretty, Ms. Tart, and She’s Fire.
