The equestrian world boasts the most amount of fun and anxiety. To the elitists, horse racing has always been a favorite pastime, later declared as a national sport. Moreover, since its emergence in Ancient Greece, the equestrian community stood tall amidst a multitude of setbacks. Furthermore, with various horseraces on the surge now, one such race holds much significance. The Woodbine Mile, the race that can be any equine’s and the trainer’s career breakthrough, has a new winner qualified for the Breeder’s Cup.
A nail-biting display on Saturday featured a North American debutant Master of the Seas, galloping past competition to clinch victory. Moreover, with the stadium screaming atop their voices, jockey William Buick and trainer Charlie Appleby waved their triumph flags.

Another $1 million Ricoh Woodbine Mile win goes to a well-deserved thoroughbred Master of the Seas. Godolphin’s homebred seized the victory in 1:33.79, leaving the competitors puzzled. To capture a position at Breeders Cup Mile (G1), this win was crucial for the 5-year-old. Last year, the trainer and jockey clocked a win for the first time with Godolphin’s home-bred Modern Games. Along similar lines, it was a small reunion of the owner, trainer, and jockey.
An impressive 3 3/4 length victory allowed the 2/5 favorite to add the seventh golden feather to his career. Getting the accusation of breaking too fast, the Master of the Seas put up a decent display for jockey William. Crediting a lot to the smooth strides, Buick said on Paulickreport “He usually breaks pretty fast (but) for one reason or another, he didn’t today. But there weren’t many runners, and the pace was even”.
Buick also stated that his only task was to lead the gelding in a steady gallop toward victory. Around the eight pole, William moved his favorite gelding to the lead to seize a third victory in four starts this year. In trainer Appleby’s absence, the assistant trainer jumped in to motivate. He said, “I was never too worried. Will has always looked pretty confident on him.”
He also added, ?He’s a horse that is pretty lightly raced and he’s not the most straightforward, but the team over here has done a great job with him”. On November 4, equestrian fans await Master of the Seas’ phenomenal $2 million Breeder’s Cup Mile at Santa Anita. Though Appleby’s assistant substituted for him on the race day, his popularity as a star trainer remains unmoved.

Charlie Appleby, known to have trained several horses in his $16,662,811 equestrian career, trained two consecutive winners of the turf. Last year, on the same racetrack, Modern Games took the gold home under Appleby’s supervision. This year, history repeated itself as Master of the Seas took victory.
On his retirement, the four-year-old colt Modern Games already had three stakes wins, including Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Mile. With eight wins in his career, the colt gained praise from his trainer. He said, “I was never too worried. Will has always looked pretty confident on him.”?
