After winning Grade 1 Met Mile on 10th June, Cody’s Wish made his return to the work tab on Monday morning. Despite being his first drill back after a race, the 5-year-old son of Curlin, managed by Bill Mott, completed four lengths on the dirt Saratoga training track in 48.4 seconds, ranking second out of 66 at a distance. Cody’s Wish, a highly skilled racehorse, has proven himself as one of the best milers in training. Now, there’s an opportunity for him to showcase his abilities over a slightly longer distance to the equestrian community.
After an impressive win in the Metropolitan Handicap, Cody’s Wish is being considered for the Whitney Stakes, a prestigious race with a prize of $1 million. The Whitney Stakes covers a distance of 1 1/8 miles, which Cody’s Wish hasn’t tried before. Although he previously suffered a narrow loss in the Challenger Stakes, his recent performances have been exceptional.
