2-Year-Old Horse Achieves Stunning Feat in Equestrian Race Despite Trainer’s Extended Suspension, Topping the Charts Throughout Nation

The equestrian world witnessed a remarkable race unfold before their eyes on 13th August 2023. A rookie racehorse with the experience of just one race stood at the starting line. The outcome of the race was already decided for many. All eyes were on another rookie who was the favorite of the race. However, what happened next blew people’s minds.

Prince of Monaco claimed a big stomping victory over stablemate Muth by a stomping margin. This, however, was not just a victory over the other racehorses in the event. This victory was a victory over every other racehorse in the league. Prince of Monaco beat its adoptive brother and set a new record.

The Prince of time and speed

Prince of Monaco participated in Sunday’s Grade 3 Best Pal Stakes at Del Mar. It went in as an ordinary rookie but emerged as the greatest victor. Prince of Monaco won the race by a staggering margin of 4 ¼ lengths. Not only that, Prince of Monaco also set a huge record. It recorded a blinding speed of 103 Beyer Speed Figure. This is the highest national speed recorded this year by any juvenile racehorse. However, this is not the only record it made.

Prince of Monaco finished the Best Pal Stakes with just 1:09.19 minutes on the clock. It achieved this time at the six-furlong Del Mar Racetrack. The astonishing victory and the creation of two records also came with a purse of $200,000. Fans were overjoyed by the marvelous spectacle before their eyes. Praises echoed for equestrian trainer Bob Baffert from all directions. The Hall of Famer trained both the winner and the runner-up of the Grade 3 race. Prince of Monaco rose to number three on the list of the fastest racehorses since 2018. Interestingly, the top two fastest racehorses are also trained by Bob Baffert.

Suspended equestrian trainer does not cease to amaze

Bob Baffert is one of the biggest and most respected figures in the equestrian world. He has trained some of the best racehorses the equestrian world has ever known. Prince of Monaco now stands in 3rd place after Cave Rock and Speed Boat Beach. Both racehorses attained 104 Beyer Speed Figures. The victory on Sunday increased Baffert’s total number of wins at the Best Pal Stakes to 10, which is a record.

The upcoming Del Mar Futurity will pit Prince of Monaco against Muth once again. A win by either will strengthen Baffert’s record of 17 wins at the Grade 1 racing event. Baffert is currently facing a suspension by Churchill Downs Inc. The equestrian body charged him with a doping violation and suspended him following the Kentucky Derby 2022.
