Dressage competition is one of the events in the equestrian game. In this event, the bond between the rider and the horse is tested. The event is full of athleticism and the horse entertains the spectators with its grace. It is part of every equestrian contest with teams participating in it.

The Pan American Games 2023 is set to happen next month. The equestrian competition has been its part since 1951 and is conducted under the FEI rules. The most successful team in the competition’s history, the United States has announced its team for the upcoming dressage competition. The team will compete with other potential challengers of the game.

The Pan American Games are conducted after a gap of four years. The last edition was held in Peru in 2019 and in that edition, the US team’s Sarah Lockman claimed the gold riding First Apple and Jennifer Baumert secured the bronze riding Handsome. This year the Pan American Games will take place in Santiago, Chile. The US Dressage has announced its team for the 2023 edition of the dressage part which shall be held at at the Escuela de Equitación Regimiento Granaderos in Quillota, Chile. The event will be held on the 22nd, 23rd, and 25th of October, 2023. The Chef d’Equipe for the team US at the event will be George Williams. Williams is also the United States Equestrian Federation’s high-performance path advisor.

The equestrian dressage team consists of four athletes and one reserve. The four athletes and their horses are – Codi Harrisson who will ride Katholt’s Bossco, a Danish Warmblood gelding born in 2007 and owned by Harrisson. Anna Marek who will ride 2010 born  KWPN gelding, Fire Fly, and is owned by Janet Simile.

Christian Simonson who will ride Son of a Lady. Son of a Lady is a Danish Warmblood gelding born in 2011 and is owned by Christina Morgan and Clifton Simonson. Sarah Tubman will ride the 2010-born KWPN gelding First Apple owned by Summit Farm. The reserved athlete is Kevin Kohmann who if he gets a chance shall ride a 2009-born Duenensee owned by Diamante Farms. The team is looking forward to continuing the winning legacy of the Pan American Games.

The last edition was held in Lima, Peru in 2019. At that event, the US team secured the silver medal in the team category. The US team had a fraction of the advantage on the last day of the event but the perfect rides from the Canadian equestrian athletes overcame that advantage and claimed the team gold. Brazil secured the bronze medal.

Throughout the history of the competition, the US team has been the most successful team in medal tallies of the competition. The other major contenders are Canada, Brazil, Argentina and others. The US team this year shall strive to overcome last time’s disappointment, claim the team gold this time, and maintain its dominance.

The US dressage began its journey for the Pan American Games with the declaration of the US team for the event. Their sole focus is to grab the podium position in both the category individual and team and continue their strong legacy at the games.
