The Breeder’s Cup is just a few months away. Many horses by their epic performances are listing themselves among the probable. The fourteen races World Championship has a new name added to its winning contenders. It is the winner of the 2023 $302,500 Del Mar Oaks three-year-old filly Anisette.

Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners filly has shown a formidable performance at the Del Mar. Subsequently many have anticipated her one or two Breeder’s Cup races looking at the potential she showed at the race. The equestrian trainer Leonard Powell is happy with her performance so far and spoke candidly about his trained filly.

Equestrian trainer speaks about Anisette

According to Horse Racing Nation the daughter of Awtaad has shown the world that she is one of the best three-year-old filly right now. At Del Mar she participated in the one and one-eighth-mile race with the aim to reach the wire first. She was ridden by Umberto Rispoli the filly started the race in good and broke nicely. Her competitor Ruby Nell took the lead and reached the first quarter-mile in 23.84 seconds and a half-mile in 47.21 seconds. Rispoli had experience with Anisette’s pace relaxed at the back with a distance of eleven and three-quarters lengths behind the leader at half mile.

Anisette was taken to the outside to lead but was again directed inside when things opened up. In the final phase, she responded with her pace and covered the final three-eighths of a mile in 34.94 seconds. She claimed the title with two and three-quarter length and completed the race in 1:48.15. Speaking on the filly’s performance the $12,466,094 worth of trainer said, “She’s been very straightforward since we got her“.

He further said, “She’s like a little moped. You can put her wherever you want. She’s got a great quality in that she’s got two or three moves in a race, not only one move. That’s a great help for a jockey“. The point with Anisette is that she responds to the need when asked without any effort of encouragement as if she had stored her speed and releases when asked. The filly’s career started in England and has adjusted herself well here, the wins show she has a long career ahead.

Anisette is the daughter of Awtaad and Tutti Frutti had started her equestrian racing in England on synthetic surfaces. She got her first win in her third career race at Wolverhampton in December 2022 where she won the race by four lengths. After reaching the age of three she was transferred to South California to begin her 3-year-old racing journey.

She won her first race at Santa Anita in an allowance race in May this year. Later she claimed her first stakes win in Grade 2 $200,000 San Clemente Stakes at Del Mar last month. In her total six career starts, she has won four races and finished second in one. Anisette’s total earnings to date is  $346,871.

Anisette’s performance at Del Mar Oaks has shown the world the potential and talent she possesses and shall give a tough fight to her opponents in future races.
