The equestrian industry offers no shortage of thrill, passion, and enthusiasm through the presence of its course. However, as the sporting community bases the practices significantly on animals, it is often on the brink of getting into hoots with the eagle-eyed enthusiasts. The on-ground entertainment is definitely one to keep an eye out for but the behind the scenes of the industry haven’t always been pretty.

The industry has witnessed increasing cases of abuse and negligence in recent times. Be it on track or off, the numbers are high. According to Impactful Ninja, The American Horse Council has estimated that around 50,000 racehorses have been mistreated over 2020. Now substantiating the stance, a video of one such abuse has surfaced on the internet. After witnessing the grueling acts in the video, the online community has risen to express rage and concern.

On the 8th of October, a user on X took to the platform to share a glimpse of an unkind video. The post showcased an equine being beaten up in the stable by a person in authority. Sharing the video, the user captioned, “If you ever want to know why racing is losing customers & owners try having a conversation with someone that runs a track or organization…” 

The user has been a staunch supporter of animal welfare and keeps on a date with anything related. Now coming across the content, the enthusiast shared the video for the community online. Following the case presented, the scene doesn’t seem to fit right with the well-fare enthusiasts. The concerned individuals gathered to stand against the acts.

Equestrian community witnesses collective rage

The contents of the video called for awareness and attention towards the situation not just by the enthusiasts but the people in authority. One of the users aiming for the same tagged the necessary entities and commented, “@raypaulick @paulickreport  have you heard about this guy and this situation?” which was followed by “OMG I hope this was reported.”

While one of the concerned comments read, “Where is HISA to help with this investigation?”, the other expressed saying, “What am I seeing? Who is this? Wtf!” Besides the concerns, people also called for stricter action. “… No animal should be treated this way as this barbaric cruelty. This totally unacceptable and something needs to be done.” While another read “…Enough is enough.”

As one commented, ” I’d love to know who that is to contact HISA,” there was a near-satisfactory reply from another. The remark stated that the authorities had identified the person in the video. But that’s not all. According to the reports, the personality has had his USTA license revoked. The comment read, “Hiteman’s license was revoked last week.”

Though the actions have been put in place, the enthusiasts demanded more; to arrest and charge. the community through to the conclusion collectively hoped to send a stronger message to curb the cases and the sustaining numbers.
