Filmmaker James Cameron has decided to part ways with his coastal California ranch, after being its owner for over 20 years. The 100-acre estate, nestled within the gated Hollister Ranch community, is now listed for $33 million, as reported by Architectural Digest. Hollister Ranch is renowned for its unspoiled beaches, bluffs, and grasslands. The property itself boasts a swimming pool, tennis court, guest house, two barns, and equestrian facilities. The main house, guest house, barns, and ranch office are constructed with rustic wood siding. Alongside pastures, trails, and thriving vegetable gardens, the ranch features a private well, solar panels, and a wind generator.

The Titanic director utilized an upstairs office within the 8,000-square-foot home to write his movies. The dwelling showcases wall-to-wall glass, a stone fireplace, and quartzite flagstone floors in the airy vaulted ceiling great room. A formal dining room, well-appointed kitchen, exercise room, media room, and game room complement the interior. Outdoor highlights include a lagoon-style pool and spa surrounded by lush greenery, a stone-paved patio for poolside dining with ocean views, and a separate guest house overlooking Drake’s Beach.

James Cameron’s ranch was the inspiration behind his movies

The 68-year-old director found inspiration for “Avatar” in an ocean-facing room at the ranch. As per the New York Post, Cameron and his wife spend most of their time now in New Zealand. The estate includes a 24,000-square-foot equestrian barn that has stored a helicopter and served as a workspace for submarine projects. Extensive renovations were undertaken after the purchase, removing excessive marble to create a connection to the land.
