Horse training is for one with passion and patience. One of such is Sophie Seymour, a trainer, and an equestrian enthusiast. The trainer stepping into the industry as an 18-year-old got her hands on her first ever equine, Roo. But after losing the 14-year-old to a tragic accident, Sophie came forward to help equine with behavioral problems. Pursuing her intents further, Sophie ventured into Roo’s Legacy. Now three years into it, besides looking after horses, Sophie also trains and schools them.

Sophie, throughout her journey, has always ensured to update the community online. Managing 3 equines, the trainer also contests at eventing and team chasing. Keeping up with her frequent posts, the equestrian updates on all of her horses. Celebrating the progress and her sheer dedication toward one of the equines, the trainer took to Facebook to share her win.

The equestrian shares her notable feat

On Saturday, Sophie took to Facebook to share an update on one of her horses alongside some stellar images. Her Team Chaser horse, Wrigley was a tough one when he was first brought home 2 years ago. However, according to the trainer’s recent update, the equine has not only settled in but also went biteless during a recent schooling session. Sharing the story, Sophie said, “Two years of trying to get this horse to settle, so many people told me to give up. The craziest, strongest horse I’ve ever ridden…Today I went XC schooling BITLESS.” 

Sharing her anecdote, Spohie revealed that the last time the duo was at a team chase, she had no control over Wrigley. She was also of being hurt by the equine. Following the instances, the update on Wrigley proves a huge feat for Sophie who believed in both their abilities. The post showcased Sophie’s persistence and dedication towards her passion.

While Wrigley has had exceptional progress, he isn’t the only one that Sophie manages. The trainer has had quite the experience with the other two of her horses.

Sophie Seymour Equines’ journey

Apart from Wrigley, Sophie manages two other horses named Tom and Simba. While the former is a pony, the other one competes as an eventer. Owing Tom and Simba, Sophie has contested multiple contests. Simba, the 9-year-old chestnut is of a dressage breed and though has the talent for eventing, currently settles for team chase events and show jumping.

The equine at his first 80cm ODE won the event with a double clear, moving forward with the progress, Simba also contested at 90cm. But Tom was falling no behind. Within a few days of Simba’s first 80cm jump, the pony along with the other two jumped 90 cm on September 2nd.

The show jumping is the equines’ newest venture. Sophie majorly rode the three at team chase participating at Belvior Novice Team Chase 2023. With the three in constant training and care, Sophie aims to go biteless at BSJA someday. Sophie however doesn’t work magic with just her three horses. The trainer also takes horses in need under her care.

The equestrian backs the horses that are brought to her and helps them find newer owners. “I would like Roo’s Legacy to become well known and when people are struggling they think of it as somewhere to turn to. Eventually I would like to be able to expand and help more than one horse at a time.” Sophie said talking to Horse and Hound about her venture. Sophie through her actions hasn’t left an opportunity to spread love and inspiration.
