Horse riding as a means of transport has been part of human lives since ancient times. In today’s world despite tremendous advancement and a fast pace of life, it is still in use, particularly in the countryside. They are reliable, and inexpensive but are slower than modern modes of transport and can be dangerous too. The equestrian world is pretty much aware of the danger of riding a horse without enough experience or in a state of intoxication.
As driving any vehicle in an intoxication state is dangerous because it impairs one proper sense of thinking and acting, the same stands for horse riders. But, in a recent story of a mishap that occurred years back, a strange judgment on an argument left the equestrian world shocked.

Horse riding with impairment in a state of intoxication whether under it or while in it is dangerous to both the horse and the rider. Under the provisions of the law, it’s prohibited and carries punishment. In a mishap recently shared a judgment by a judge in the case of driving while intoxicated has raised many eyebrows and left the equestrian world startled. According to the Guardian, a story was shared by Bruce Higgins a resident of San Diego about a drunken rider. The incident happened many years back when Higgins used to live in Western Wyoming.
In Western Wyoming where he lived, there was a small town north of it called Pinedale. In that town one Friday night a ranch hand came riding a horse and stopped by a bar to have a few drinks. At the bar, the rancher had a few drinks that rendered him intoxicated. He was observed horseback riding back home in the same state. During his return trip, he was caught by the sheriff and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. His case was presented in court where the rancher acknowledged that he was drunk but argued that the horse he was riding was not drunk and it knew the way to his home. The judge dismissed the case reasoning that it was not against the law to be intoxicated for a passenger.
With the rancher’s argument, the judge considered him a passenger rather than a rider and gave judgment in his favor. However, not every horse rider is as lucky as the Wyoming ranch hand, in California a horseback rider was arrested for riding under the influence of alcohol.
