The shifting weather seems to have no hold over the racing community. The Parx Racing and Casino in Bensalem, Pennsylvania is running at a normal pace back with its season. Over the coming weekend, the Parx racing will not only host the betPARX Pennsylvania Derby (GI) but also the Grade 1 Cotillion Stakes. With a packed schedule equestrian enthusiasts are in for a stirring evening as equines go the extra mile.
Serving as a prelude to the prestigious Breeder’s Cup to be held in November, the Catillion stakes will feature 3-year-old fillies carrying a purse of $1 million. Trying its hand for what’s at stake and running to revive its stand, Tom Amoss trained filly will race against 8 other fillies. Overcoming its previous loss at Grade 3 the stakes will be an important one for the Into Mischief’s filly.
Famed Equestrian Bids on Equine for a Win

The Tom Amoss trained equine’s loss for her 8th start was a staggering one. Competing at the Grade 3 Charles Town Oaks on August 26, Hoosier Philly ended at a disappointing 8th. However, now recovering from her performance the filly is all prepped at settled at the backstretch of the Cotillion Stakes.
“She’s coming off a poor performance, but it’s a race where she really got beat up out of the gate,” Amoss said. “I knew from the gate when we didn’t get into good position that we were in trouble. To me, that race is a throw out. She’s trained well since. Following Charles Town, Amoss said according to the Paulick Report. Tom’s confidence in his filly could possibly credited to his experience in the field. The famed trainer made his debut in the industry back in 1987 and had a quick take-off. The trainer now with 16,443 starts has accumulated career earnings at $120,557,841. Through to the last one, Tom has well-groomed Hoosier Philly.
Moving into its most notable stakes yet, the Cotillion will be Hoosier’s first-ever Grade 1 stakes. While Philly could have had another Grade 1 stakes start to her name, a foot abscess threat kept her out of the tracks. However, the 3-year-old filly has quite the accomplishments to her name forgoing the missed stakes.

Hoosier Filly Onto Her 9th Start
The Gold Standard Racing Stable-owned filly, debuting in 2022, earned a win at her very first race at the 5 1/2 furlongs, Churchill Downs. The 8-race starter then added Monomoy Girl Overnight, 2022 Golden Rod, and the 2022 Rags to Riches Stakes to her wins. Entering the second year of her career, Philly finished third in the Rachel Alexandra, fourth in the Fair Grounds Oaks, and a runner-up at the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes.
Rounding up her career, Hoosier with 8 starts has 4 wins, 1 second, and a third. The filly’s career earnings totaling up to $652,010 has boosted her for the Cotillion Stakes on the 22nd of September. “We’re looking forward to the challenge,” said Amoss. “It’s a great race. It’s a one-of-a-kind race… if you think you have a really good horse, it’s a can’t miss. You’d have to take your shot.”

Running beside Foggy Night, Ceiling Crusher, and Pretty Mischievous, Hoosier will be in for a tight competition. While the crowd turns its eyes toward the speculated winner, Pretty Mischievous, the filly winning its battle will run for redemption. With famed rider John Velazquez saddling up atop Philly, the Cotillion is going to be a joy ride for the enthusiasts.
