Piper’s journey has forged an unexpected bond within the Romani and Traveller community. Despite not being a part of this community, she has been embraced as their own, receiving overwhelming support. Offers of a harness, boots, a custom cart, and assistance in training her own pony for next year’s Appleby Fair have flooded in. Travellers’ Times also took to Facebook to share Piper’s story. Her father, occupied with work as a van seller and DJ, entrusted her care to her grandmother, Deborah Stocks. Together, they attended the river for the pony-washing ceremony, with Piper bringing her beloved hobby horse.

Mrs. Stocks reflects on the moment, “She’s a quiet girl, and she wandered into the water where they wash their horses.”  Following her hobby horse adventure, Piper was even given the chance to wash a real horse in the Eden River. Interestingly, Piper already owns her own horse, a four-year-old miniature Gypsy Cob named Storm.
