While Jenn’s Egyptian equestrian husband, Nayel Nassar, might be the love of her life, horses are inarguably her first love. It all began when she was just a little girl. Jenn was just six-year-old when the majestic creature first caught her eye. The little girl had always been told by her parents that she was free to pursue whatever she wanted. So, when horse riding piqued her interest, Jennifer Gates urged her parents to let her learn more about it.

It didn’t take much effort to get a green flag from her business tycoon father and philanthropist mother. Jenn’s parents were always very supportive. Jenn started horse riding at six and hasn’t stopped ever since. For the first two years, Gates took pony lessons, but at the age of 8, she started training with professionals. After spending years training with the horses, teenage Jennifer wanted to take her passion to the next level. And as always her father had his little princess’ back.

Father Bill Gates left no stone unturned to support his daughter’s equestrian passion

With his multi-billion dollar wealth, it isn’t difficult for Bill Gates to fulfill the needs of his children. So, when his eldest daughter expressed her will to pursue her hobby competitively, Bill made everything available with the wave of a hand. When Jenn turned 15, she wanted to participate in the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF). Bill made sure Jenn had everything at hand to prepare for the tournament.

To do so, he rented out an eight-bedroom mansion spreading across 7300 sq ft of land in Wellington, Florida. Furthermore, he arranged four horses on lease and hired trainers, as well. The mansion had every facility that an equestrian would need. The property was worth $12.9 million, however, Gates had rented it for six months for $600,000.

He also bore the costs of jetting the family to and fro between Florida and Washington, where they lived, during this time. Overall, Bill Gates spent $1 million while his little girl geared up for her first rookie competition. Though her first few horses were leased, Jenn eventually got her own horses.

Know about Jennifer Gates’ favorite horse

Over the years, Jennifer Gates has owned several horses, like the Co Antrim bred grey mare named Pepperpot she bought in 2015, or the Holsteiner named Capital Colnardo who joined her team in November 2018. However, there is one horse who has a special place in the equestrian’s heart. It is the Westphalian Gelding named Alex.

Alex was born in 2004, but it wasn’t until July 2017 that he joined Jenn’s team. Talking about her new ride with US Equestrian in 2017, Jenn said, “He is super sweet, down-to-earth, easy-going, but you can also go fast and have a lot of confidence, so I am really excited about him.” With her beautiful horses, Jenn has competed in various events across U.S. and Europe over the years.

She earned another two Bronze medals in two jumping events that year. She is ranked the 19th Show Jumper in the world. Training with these horses was also what led to Jenn meeting her life partner.

Jennifer Gates also met her now-husband through the equestrian circuit

Juggling her studies and equestrian career, Jennifer Gates was a busy woman with little to no time to date. However, love found her in the stables itself. Jenn met her now-husband, Egyptian Show Jumper Nayel Nassar, on an equestrian circuit. The duo hit it off from the get-go. Love was bound to bloom between the two friends, who had more in common than just their love for horses.

Surprisingly, Nassar is also a Stanford University alum and loves to travel. But the duo didn’t cross paths in college, as Nassar had graduated with a degree in economics by the time Jenn had enrolled for her degree in human biology. But as they say, if it’s meant to be it’ll be. These friends turned into lovers and began dating in 2017. After dating for nearly three years, they got engaged in January 2020. More than a year later, the duo tied the knot in a lavish wedding in October 2021. After the wedding, the couple continues to pursue their passion together.

Is Jennifer Gates still continuing her equestrian career?

Presently, Jennifer Gates owns a stable named Evergate Stables that operates in two locations. The stable is managed by Jennifer, her husband, and their team. Having completed her medical studies at Icahn School of Medicine, Gates presently works as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing Contraceptive Business at CooperSurgical. After less than two years of marriage, the couple expanded their family and welcomed their first child, a daughter, in March 2023.
