Calamity struck the Equestrian world as a horse died at Del Mar

On Saturday, it was a normal routine training for the two-year-old colt, Pastor T, at Del Mar. He was one of the promising horses this year for the Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert. Pastor T was nearing the end of his workout for the day when he suffered a catastrophic injury. The Siena Farm and WinStar Farm-owned horse suffered a leg injury and had to be euthanized. This is the fifth death of a horse at Del Mar this year due to racing or training injury.

On the 12th of this month, the colt took part in the maiden race of his career at the Del Mar racecourse. It was a maiden special weight thoroughbred race for two-year-olds for five and a half furlong distance at the dirt-fast track. Pastor T was placed fourth in the race of seven horses and won his first career race by four and a half lengths. This fantastic victory made him one of the favorites for the upcoming  Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity race in September. Pastor T was the son of Into Mischief and Top Quality, and was bred by WinStar Farm. The California Horse Racing Board spoke about the nature and circumstances of the injury.
