Founded by the self-made businessman David Hains in the 1950s, this property has been the birthplace of numerous champion racehorses, some of which have become household names in Australia. Among the notable equine residents were Kingston Rule, Rose of Kingston, and Kingston Town.

 

David Hains, who initially ventured into cattle and sheep farming on the property, developed a deep passion for horse breeding in the 1970s. Within a remarkably short span of ten years, Kingston Park had bred prizewinning thoroughbreds that left an indelible mark on Australian racing history. Kingston Rule, in particular, still holds the record as one of the country’s fastest competitors.

Catherine Hains, David’s daughter, fondly recalls the family’s weekends spent at Kingston Park. The property served as a vast playground for her and her four brothers, where they rode horses, explored the forest and engaged in various outdoor activities. It was a place of simple pleasures and cherished memories for the Hains family. Furthermore, the property includes eight box stables and enclosed areas for cattle, reflecting its versatility and potential for various agricultural pursuits. This Park goes beyond being a home for horses only.

The Other Idyllic Facilities

This farm boasts a collection of charming residences, including the circa 1950s main house featuring three bedrooms, a study, and an attached one-bedroom studio with a separate entrance. An additional timber-clad house with four bedrooms and a study was added in the 1980s.

Complementing these dwellings is a caretaker’s house and several guest cottages, creating a cosy and inviting atmosphere on the property. Beyond the houses, the estate offers a wealth of recreational amenities, including a lake, a pool, a tennis court, and a four-hole golf course. Catherine Hains fondly remembers Kingston Park as a childhood playground filled with horseback rides, dirt bike adventures, camping in the forest, and countless outdoor activities.

Catherine Hains said,” The family spent Christmas and holidays at Kingston Park until her father’s death. Her mother died several years ago, and with the siblings living far apart, they decided to sell Kingston Park. “It’s emotionally hard,” she said. “We’ve all loved it. But you’ve got to move with the times.
